Happy Christmas Eve

Image
Here are some happy things from today: Every week I get a message from FitBit about my step count for the week.  Often I ignore it.  I decided to look at it today.  I used to work hard to reach a 10,000 step a day goal.  Now I try to be happy if I get to 70,000 in a week.  I spent most of Sunday in bed with this cold and I still reached 70,000 steps for the week.  All the steps I get at work make a big difference (over 20,000 today).   I'm glad I looked at the notification and saw my totals. Things at work got so busy today that I worked just under twelve hours.  They gave everyone a gift that stayed late today.  That was really nice.  We also got an extra $50 if we worked our full shift.   On Christmas Eve we have had a tradition of gifting holiday books.  This year the book I received was An Anishinaabe Christmas by Wab Kinew.  It is about an Indigenous (in Canada) family that travels home to the reservation f...

Happy Monday

Image
My youngest, Bel, made it home safely to Maryland today.  Here are some other happy things from today: The chores I set forth to do today were accomplished. The weather was iffy so my friend Amy and I walked and talked at the mall today.  She is really good at reminding me of things I might need to do.  I still hadn't reached my step goal when we left.  With only 600 steps to go, I decided to pace outside while writing this to reach the 10,000 step goal.  What sounded like a cat bird yelled at me most of that time. There is a thing I have had for my hair that I seldom use.  It is called “Twist ‘n’ Style.”  On a whim I used it to put my braids up.  I twisted them some and then let the ends of the braids stay free.  The result is that my hair looks shorter from the front, and it looks okay from the back.  Amy took a picture so I could see what it looked like. ☮ Continued listening to: The Farthest Shore , by Ursula K. Monday Off

Happy Monday things: It was a long, hot weekend.  This morning I did what felt like a lot of nothing.  In reality, I spent quite a bit of time wording an email.  The email is to the East Kingdom Royals in the SCA.  I wrote to recommend someone for an award.  This is something that I don't do very often, but should.  It was sent, and I'm glad I did it. As a last minute decision I messaged my friend, Amy, about taking a walk today.  There were many things I could be doing, but I'm going to be working overtime this week and I wanted to see my friend.  We had a great walk in the air conditioned mall.   Thanks to that walk and a little extra afterwards, I made my 10,000 step goal for today.  That makes day seven.  It has been a while since I had a seven day streak. I found another balloon flower.  It is popping up among the Virginia creeper. ☮ Currently listening to: Dune Messiah , by Frank Herbert. Thank you for being part of ...

Another Day

Image
Today was, well, just a day.  I'm rather tired and work seemed long.  I've gathered over 27,000 steps on my FitBit and I'm feeling it and the walk I took earlier this week.  Here are some happy things from today: One of the people I have breaks with at work had a minor day surgery yesterday.  A message was sent to another coworker to let us know that all went well.  Yay! Our cat, Nanni, wanted attention when I got home from work.  Isn't she adorable? Outside, looking for pictures, I was pleased to see some color in the clouds as sunset was approaching.  So pretty.  Queen Anne's lace in winter. ☮ Currently listening to: Robin , by Dave Itzkoff. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
