Here are some happy things from today: Even with all the hiking I did in the fall, I still feel very out of shape.  I walked to the store again today and it really felt like I was dragging.  But I did it.  Four miles into the city. Yay! Most of my time at DIY Craft & Thrift was spent reorganizing the stationary/scrapbook section.  It looks much better than yesterday, but there could still be more work done.  There is so much paper there!  There is lined paper and notebooks, construction paper, photo paper, origami paper, and scrapbook paper.  And there are so many stamps!  The store is going to look great when it reopens on Tuesday.   Keziah played sword fighting (the swords were florals) with a friend. So much fabric got reorganized by another friend today. A very small part of the scrapbook section.  Currently, I'm working hard to get to bed early.  Tomorrow is my transition day back to working nights and I want to start ...

Nice Walk

Happy things from this Saturday: It took longer than I remembered, but I walked into the city to get to DIY Craft & Thrift.  It is about a four mile walk.  It was a nice day to do that since it was above freezing.  Keziah has closed her store, DIY Craft & Thrift, until January 1st.  She is doing a reset.  A bunch of people came to help out.  Today was move-things-around day.  Tomorrow is make-it-all-look-good day.  One of the things I did today with Bel was go over a random list I found online about what to bring backpacking.  It looks like we have most of what we need.  There are only a few “big” things left to buy.  Yay! ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Sorceress , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Continued listening to: The Body Keeps the Score , by Bessel Van Der Kolk. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Hike Prep

Here are some happy things from today: This morning Zed picked me up at the place I was getting my car worked on.  He bought me a peppermint steamer on the way home.  It was yummy.  After that I spent most of the day watching Keziah play a video game.  It has a story based between the fighting parts.  I think I just liked being with family. When my car was finished, Bel and I decided to go on a short walk.  We drove north of the city to the rail trail.  There is a bridge there that I thought was interesting and wanted to show Bel.  When I was about halfway across the bridge I remembered that I didn't ever want to go over it again.  We made it over and continued to walk a little before turning around.  It was getting dark and I wanted to be over the bridge again while there was still light.  It was a nice little walk.  The fresh air was good. Statue of Hannah Duston. Some of the things Bel and I have been meaning to do was to se...

Nostalgia

Happy first day of December.   Here are some things from today that made me happy: When I finally got up and got going this morning, I made a list and stuck to it.  I went through a box and emptied it.  Some of it went to the trash and some just got moved around/put away.  There was a pile of Avon jewelry that I kept.  Everything was still in the boxes.  This is a problem I have, keeping boxes.  The jewelry is now put away and the boxes are in the recycle bin.  Yay, downsizing!   I also did some cleaning in my room, laundry, and dishes.  In my room I have a thing my mom made when I was a kid. It hangs and has little pockets on it. I'm sure I thought the fabric was really groovy.  Apparently I still do since I want to keep it.  I've been trying to figure out what to use it for and realized last week that my wallet fits into one of the pockets quite nicely.  I had some pins on it too and added some more from the je...

Lazy Saturday

All I wanted to do this morning was stay warm in bed.  And so I did.  Eventually, I got up, showered, and had breakfast.   Here are some happy things from the day: Getting out of the house, even for a little bit, seemed important to me today.  I took a small walk.  The fresh air was nice.  There was ice on the trail puddles.  I think the walk helped this cold I have been fighting, or it is really allergies.   My goal today was to clean off the futon that has been covered with boxes.  I reached that goal.  The futon cover is in the wash.  I can't figure out how to turn the futon couch into a bed, but hopefully someone else can.  This means that there is a place to sit while sorting through boxes.  This also opens up another option for Bel to sleep on.  I'm not sure that either living room is better than the other, but it is a choice.  I even vacuumed and washed some of the floor. Someday this wall will b...

Busy Day

Image
This morning, I expected to hurt more from yesterday's hike and I didn't.  I also had more energy than I expected.  Here are some other happy things from this lovely Monday: Keziah had a pickup this morning of donations for her store, DIY Craft & Thrift.  It was from one lady that has been donating since the beginning.  I helped fill Keziah’s van with craft supplies (mostly yarn).  Then we unloaded at the store.  The picture is the pile at the store. Afterwards, we worked in the living room of the apartment.  Things were moved around and better organized.  There is still a bunch more to do.  I'm hoping to get the room a little more usable this week, while still storing lots of boxes.   After lunch, I met friends for a walk at Livingston Park.  The park has been partly closed for renovations for a while.  It was good to be back there.  It is a more or less central location for the four of us that met there this tim...

Kisses

Here are some happy things from Sunday: The internet rabbit hole this morning was a hypothyroid video about which foods to avoid and which to eat.  It was also educational and was trying to sell a supplement.  I made a shopping list.  Then I did a little bit of shopping and included some of the food suggestions to maybe help my thyroid.  Some of my food shopping for the week is done, and that makes me happy.  I'm also loving the Candy Cane Kisses that are in the stores for the holidays. One of the things I got was a gallon of milk for Keziah.  Unfortunately, it didn't fit in her refrigerator.  I put it in my refrigerator.  That would be the fridge that I have been avoiding cleaning since the apartment was emptied last fall, but not all of the stuff in the refrigerator, and I moved in this spring.  I have occasionally thrown things away to fill up a trash bag and done the tiniest bit of wiping down the easiest places.  Today I took it apa...

Memory

Fridays are becoming a day that I don't get much done.  I'm going to try to work on that next week.  Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke up early and stayed in bed way too long.  Eventually I got up and cleaned the bathroom before taking a shower.  This seemed like a wonderful accomplishment.  The internet grabbed me again after and I didn't have breakfast until about noon.  The research rabbit hole and short videos took up more time than it should.  There is another item in my online cart to be ordered and my bathroom is clean.  That is two wins. My friend, TF, called in the afternoon.  We talked for around two hours.  During that time I took a walk, saw the sunset, and the full moon rise. The white glow among the trees is the moon. Sunset and Venus. For a short time I went through a box.  There are things from that box that I want to keep, and some I don't.  There are craft things like fabric scraps, us...
