Cloudy Moon

Image
Some happy things from today: The moon was high in the sky shrouded by a layer of clouds when I left home for work.  It was lovely in a slightly eerie kind of way.  I tried to catch the image, but the picture doesn't do it justice. On the way home from work (yes, I was assigned to Problem Solve at the end of the day), I saw a pair of bald eagles flying over the road.  They were a little above the treeline in a place that the road is very close to the Merrimack River.  It was also a place where pulling over was out of the question or I'd have taken a picture. In last Thursday's blog I commented about how I remind the rest of the family to take the trash out to the street on Thursday mornings, but I seldom remember to take my own trash out.  Thankfully I am one person and don't make much trash in the apartment.  I did remember to take out my trash and recycling today.  Yay! Sunset! ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Sorceress , by Elisabeth Wheatley. ...

Long Day

Image
Here are some of my happy things from today: Last year work had me scheduled for five ten hour days a week during the few weeks leading up to Christmas.  This year they only scheduled me for four days.  Since I wasn't scheduled but could use the money, I took on two extra shifts today.  One from 8:50 AM to 11:50 AM.  The other from 6:20 PM to 12:50 AM.   They also offered up an additional $5 an hour for that second shift.  Somehow, I was assigned to Problem Solve both times.  It was a long day, even with a nap in between the two shifts.  I'm looking forward to sleep. The moon was rising before I left for work the second time.  It was a bright full moon. ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Sorceress , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Nap Day

Image
Thursday's mean sleep to me. Here are some happy things from Thursday: At work, I got in early and stayed a little late. It is something I get to do when I am training people. Today at work I finally had time to organize the web addresses I need to get various tasks done. Since every laptop I use is different, just saving bookmarks doesn't work. I have messaged them all to myself so they should be easy to find in the future. At home I ate, played a game on my phone, and slept. There was a little bit of watching the Mandalorian too. I even got a load of laundry done. The best part about laundry is that it can be happening while I take a nap! The Google Game for Thursday. Distractions happen. I should make that into a sticker. This is a brief sketch of a place my mind went today. I'm going to show it to Keziah tomorrow. It needs some embellishment and color, but I think the idea might work. Either way, it was fun to try to do.  What it doesn't need is an apo...

Memory

Fridays are becoming a day that I don't get much done.  I'm going to try to work on that next week.  Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke up early and stayed in bed way too long.  Eventually I got up and cleaned the bathroom before taking a shower.  This seemed like a wonderful accomplishment.  The internet grabbed me again after and I didn't have breakfast until about noon.  The research rabbit hole and short videos took up more time than it should.  There is another item in my online cart to be ordered and my bathroom is clean.  That is two wins. My friend, TF, called in the afternoon.  We talked for around two hours.  During that time I took a walk, saw the sunset, and the full moon rise. The white glow among the trees is the moon. Sunset and Venus. For a short time I went through a box.  There are things from that box that I want to keep, and some I don't.  There are craft things like fabric scraps, us...

Here are some happy things from today:  At work I was assigned to do the QA position.  This is the first time I have been assigned there from the beginning of the shift.  It is a lot of work, frustrating at times, but I like it.  I need to make a list of things so I remember what to bring with me, look out for, and what files I need to have open on the laptop.  There were some things I forgot and it slowed me down in the beginning. One of the Process Assistants thinks that I could do their job someday. I'm not ready for that, we'll see if I even decide to pursue more. It is a nice compliment though. The food today was pretzel wrapped hotdogs.  It was okay.  I got to the food a little late.  They were still warm, but I think it would have been better from the source. After work and lunch I took a nap.  I set an alarm to go off before the sunset so I could get a picture of it.  The moon was rising too.  The sky can be beautiful. No...

Moon Rise

Image
Some happy things from this Wednesday: It's Wednesday.  My work week is two thirds over.  I was hoping to pick up some extra hours, but there hasn't been any available.  Instead, I'm tired and looking forward to the weekend.  After work I remembered to deliver yesterday's boxes to the storage unit. I'm happy they are out of the house and out of my car. The moon is getting close to full.  It was rising as the sun was starting to set.   ☮ Currently listening to: The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity , by David Graeber & David Wengrow. Cats

Image
Here are some happy things from today: Keziah played with the cats this morning, I took pictures. While scrolling on Facebook Marketplace this morning looking for hiking things I spotted a women's puffy jacket.  It appeared to be the right size, $30, and definitely made for backpacking.  Unfortunately it was located about an hour away.  Last week I saw a similar item and chickened out.  The thought of meeting with a stranger to do something like this bothers me.  Then I looked again and saw that I knew the person selling it.  She is a teacher who used to work in the school where I was a paraeducator.  I messaged her and made the trip.  She had some other items that she was planning to donate that she offered as well.  I now have a few things that I can wear backpacking. Yesterday I wrote about Keziah's phone being broken.  Her replacement was here early this afternoon.  Things have been a little stressful lately, so getting th...

CW: Deer Bones

Image
It is a stressful few days for me.  Here are some happy things from today: Today was voting day.  I don't want to get into politics on my blog today.  I appreciate that I have lived in a country where people have the right to vote and am happy that I was able to vote today.  I'm avoiding the roller-coaster of election results.  CW- A few years ago we found a fairly fresh deer carcass on the back property with coyote tracks.  We tried to process the bones and found it difficult.  After some research we found that we could just use nature and partially bury the remains.  Today we uncovered them and they seem to have come out pretty well.  A friend who knows more than we do about bones, has taken them to clean them up.  I'm happy that this seemed to have worked. I look forward to what the artsy people I know will create.  I've posted one simple bone picture at the end.  The other pictures from today will eventually make it onto my...

Title-less Thursday

Happy Thursday! Stepping outside in the extreme early morning I got to see the moon as it was just about to rise over the tree line.  A glow with just a spot of bright through the trees.  Orion was also in the sky, but not in the picture. At work, I ended up helping to train some new people.  It was good, I just wish that they had included me earlier in the process.  With the particular circumstances and number of people, two trainers would have been better from the beginning.  It was a good week.  I'm happy the work week is over.   I stepped outside as the sun was getting low on the horizon and the trees were reflecting an orange that I didn't see in the sunset.  It was very pretty.   In my struggle to get up-to-date with the Inktober prompts, I have not fallen further behind.  For today I did prompt 23, rust. ☮ Currently listening to: Lirael , by Garth Nix. Archery

Happy things from today: This day started so much better than yesterday.  I got up at a reasonable time and went for a walk.  It was soon after dawn.  I saw a blue heron fly from the swamp it was in. Herons are so big!  There wasn't time for a picture. According to the news, foliage is at peak in this part of the state.  Most trees have turned color, a few are a little behind.  Moon It is Sunday so I went to the cafe with a friend this morning.  It was just the two of us since the other people who usually go are currently out of state.  I ordered something a little different than I tend to and it was really good.  The company was lovely. There was archery practice today with my friend Stephanie.  Amy was there, too and three other people.  It was a good turnout.  I shot okay, but not consistently, so my scores aren't quite as high as I'd like.  It was a lot of fun.  It would be great if I could take my highest s...

Work!

Image
There were a bunch of happy things from work today.  A few other happy things too: The full moon was brilliant last night when I left for work.  I worked outside in the wee morning hours as well and got to look up at it often.  If only I could howl.  🤣 After our mid shift break there was a really exciting announcement that the managers wanted to make.  I admit, I was skeptical.  Sometimes I don't find exciting the same things they find exciting.  This time we all got a raise.  So that is very nice.   There were other perks too, but they aren't being remembered by my tired brain right now.   During a break, a coworker handed me not one, but two company themed bandanas.  I've been wearing bandanas at work all the time lately.  It keeps my flyaway hair from tickling my nose.  I thought it was very thoughtful and I'm planning to wear one tomorrow.  Work celebrated the equinox today with a cookout.  They go...

Today my dad would have been 91.  There have been many changes in my life and in the world since he passed away.  Some days, when I need to do certain things, I think about what my dad would have done.  It usually helps.  Here are some happy things from today: There was a Safety Committee meeting at work.  They ordered some food for the meeting goers and managers.  I ended up with a really good scrambler breakfast.  It was a basic meal with eggs, toast, bacon and hashbrowns.  Yummy.  They got the food from Gaslight District Diner in Manchester, NH.  I may have to go there some time. My afternoon was filled with working on a secret project.  I'm so very thankful for the friends that are helping me with this.  They aren't just helpful, they are wonderful to be around. The moon was beautiful tonight.  The picture won't do it justice.  It was a half moon that lit up one part of the sky.   ☮ Currently listening t...

Moonday

(posting late...) Some happy things from Monday: This morning I had therapy.  I’m trying to reduce the amount of visits I have because I dislike them.  However, I felt like the discussion went well today, so that is good. This afternoon I went to the studio to help Keziah with the printing she is doing.  I didn’t do very much to help.  We did get to talk about who to give awards to.  I worked on looking for more pictures and photos of her and her work instead.   When I left the studio, our friend who also has a studio there, walked outside with me.  I noticed the moon in the sky.  We both commented how it is so neat when the moon is out during the day.  The camera in my phone takes much better pictures of the daytime moon than the nighttime moon. Moon amid the branches. Day moon. ☮ Currently listening to Lessons in Chemistry , by Bonnie Garmus. Still reading the book I didn't intend to, Saving Nora . The author appears to be Josh Willia...
