Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Spin the Lego wheel to choose your jam! My board toward the beginning of playing The Isle of Cats. The y...

Penultimate Day in December

Image
The year is almost over. ( 😮 )  Here are some happy things for today: There was more progress made at DIY Craft & Thrift. I wasn't there as long as I was hoping to be. It is really great to see things coming together. Organization in progress! After working at DIY for almost an hour I left briefly because the time was up on my paid parking. I went to a grocery store that I know takes plastic bags and dropped off some of what I have in the car. I don't like being the person that fills up a recycle bin in a store. I bought some cereal and a new canvas shopping bag. Zed, a friend, and I went to the State Surplus Distribution place in Concord. Keziah wanted some filing cabinets. They only had one and we picked that up. I also got some rusty tools (five for one dollar) and a kitchen knife. They have many different knives there. The kitchen knife is from The Pampered Chef. I'm hopeful that it will last long. By the time we were done there it was too close to my need...

Sunday

Here are some happy things from today: Even with all the hiking I did in the fall, I still feel very out of shape.  I walked to the store again today and it really felt like I was dragging.  But I did it.  Four miles into the city. Yay! Most of my time at DIY Craft & Thrift was spent reorganizing the stationary/scrapbook section.  It looks much better than yesterday, but there could still be more work done.  There is so much paper there!  There is lined paper and notebooks, construction paper, photo paper, origami paper, and scrapbook paper.  And there are so many stamps!  The store is going to look great when it reopens on Tuesday.   Keziah played sword fighting (the swords were florals) with a friend. So much fabric got reorganized by another friend today. A very small part of the scrapbook section.  Currently, I'm working hard to get to bed early.  Tomorrow is my transition day back to working nights and I want to start ...

Nice Walk

Image
Happy things from this Saturday: It took longer than I remembered, but I walked into the city to get to DIY Craft & Thrift.  It is about a four mile walk.  It was a nice day to do that since it was above freezing.  Keziah has closed her store, DIY Craft & Thrift, until January 1st.  She is doing a reset.  A bunch of people came to help out.  Today was move-things-around day.  Tomorrow is make-it-all-look-good day.  One of the things I did today with Bel was go over a random list I found online about what to bring backpacking.  It looks like we have most of what we need.  There are only a few “big” things left to buy.  Yay! ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Sorceress , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Green Monday

Image
Happy Monday! This morning after breakfast Keziah, Bel, and I did a quick cleanup of the kitchen and porch. Tomorrow there will be a new dishwasher installed. Things got moved and a trip to the dump was made. There is less cardboard to be recycled in the apartment now too. I’m looking forward to the new dishwasher. We also brought the futon that Keziah picked up last week to the studio as well as more fabric. The new-to-us futon looks like it will be more comfortable than the last one. Then we went to DIY Craft & Thrift to put more merchandise on the floor. I put some holiday things out and then I had to leave for an appointment at the DMV. My driver’s license expires in ten days and I forgot to do it by mail. It was good to be able to help out at the store some. I don’t get there as often as I thought I would. Since I totally forgot to take pictures of the things we did and progress that was made, I’ve taken a picture of one of the flowers on my wall. It is snowing out ...

Midnight Merriment

A few things happened today that I am not happy about. I lost my work badge (that I use to enter the building and clock in on) and my car didn't pass inspection. This is not the place for that. Here are some happy Friday things: The work day went by fast. Probably because I was in the Problem Solve area. It is always a good thing when the ten hour work day feels short. There are some new-to-me songs that are being played at work. One of them is a song from Japan that sounds really familiar. It was originally released in 1979 in Japan but apparently has become popular again thanks to the internet. I still have no reason that it should sound familiar, except that it sounds very 1970's. 🙃 Anyway, it made for interesting conversations at work. My big happy thing for today is that Bel is here! They were supposed to be here before Thanksgiving but had car problems. They still have car problems, so they took a bus. Bel will be helping Keziah at the store over the holiday...

Commercial Time

Image
Here are some happy things from today: Keziah's friend made a commercial for her!   At work I did a little bit of almost everything that I have been trained in.  At least it felt that way.  Plus I worked just shy of twelve hours.  It was so good to be home! The lighting this afternoon was the kind that made me look West, even though I was looking East.  The sunset was lovely. ☮ Finished listening to: Daindreth's Assassin , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Busy Day

Image
This morning, I expected to hurt more from yesterday's hike and I didn't.  I also had more energy than I expected.  Here are some other happy things from this lovely Monday: Keziah had a pickup this morning of donations for her store, DIY Craft & Thrift.  It was from one lady that has been donating since the beginning.  I helped fill Keziah’s van with craft supplies (mostly yarn).  Then we unloaded at the store.  The picture is the pile at the store. Afterwards, we worked in the living room of the apartment.  Things were moved around and better organized.  There is still a bunch more to do.  I'm hoping to get the room a little more usable this week, while still storing lots of boxes.   After lunch, I met friends for a walk at Livingston Park.  The park has been partly closed for renovations for a while.  It was good to be back there.  It is a more or less central location for the four of us that met there this tim...

Here are some happy things from today: They fed us at work today.  I looked at the work engagement calendar and it looks like we will get something on Thursday, too.  It was Chinese food today and I got some fried rice.   After work I had a message from Keziah about working on the boxes in the apartment.  I thought it sounded like a great idea, until I got home and was exhausted.  I think I fell asleep for a little bit, and she ended up running late, so I had a little bit of energy.  She has a friend that came and helped us too. We didn't have a lot of time and things were mostly just moved around.  Many things need to go to either DIY Craft & Thrift or the studio.  Most of the studio things are going to the storage unit for now.  We need to organize the studio again too.  I took some before and after pictures.  There is still a long way to go. Before After Before After Sunset!! ☮ Currently listening to: The Dawn of Everyth...

Halloween Howl

Image
Here are some happy things from this Halloween Howl day: This morning I got up early for my yearly doctor's appointment with my endocrinologist.  I have Hashimoto's Disease and get my thyroid scanned and checked every year.  That is, until next time.  My scans haven't been showing any signs of change so I get to wait 18 months for the next appointment.  Yay! While walking through the grocery store I was told by two different people that they liked my shirt.  I only wear it around Halloween. Every year Concord closes up part of Main Street so the children can go trick or treating at the stores (Halloween Howl).  Keziah’s store, DIY Craft & Thrift, is part of this area.  This year she brought tables outside for the kids to stop at instead of having then come into the store.   The store remained open and became a quiet place that people would come into.  I stayed in that quiet place.  I wish I could say that I helped, but mos...
