Nostalgia

Happy first day of December.   Here are some things from today that made me happy: When I finally got up and got going this morning, I made a list and stuck to it.  I went through a box and emptied it.  Some of it went to the trash and some just got moved around/put away.  There was a pile of Avon jewelry that I kept.  Everything was still in the boxes.  This is a problem I have, keeping boxes.  The jewelry is now put away and the boxes are in the recycle bin.  Yay, downsizing!   I also did some cleaning in my room, laundry, and dishes.  In my room I have a thing my mom made when I was a kid. It hangs and has little pockets on it. I'm sure I thought the fabric was really groovy.  Apparently I still do since I want to keep it.  I've been trying to figure out what to use it for and realized last week that my wallet fits into one of the pockets quite nicely.  I had some pins on it too and added some more from the je...

Lazy Saturday

All I wanted to do this morning was stay warm in bed.  And so I did.  Eventually, I got up, showered, and had breakfast.   Here are some happy things from the day: Getting out of the house, even for a little bit, seemed important to me today.  I took a small walk.  The fresh air was nice.  There was ice on the trail puddles.  I think the walk helped this cold I have been fighting, or it is really allergies.   My goal today was to clean off the futon that has been covered with boxes.  I reached that goal.  The futon cover is in the wash.  I can't figure out how to turn the futon couch into a bed, but hopefully someone else can.  This means that there is a place to sit while sorting through boxes.  This also opens up another option for Bel to sleep on.  I'm not sure that either living room is better than the other, but it is a choice.  I even vacuumed and washed some of the floor. Someday this wall will b...

Busy Day

This morning, I expected to hurt more from yesterday's hike and I didn't.  I also had more energy than I expected.  Here are some other happy things from this lovely Monday: Keziah had a pickup this morning of donations for her store, DIY Craft & Thrift.  It was from one lady that has been donating since the beginning.  I helped fill Keziah’s van with craft supplies (mostly yarn).  Then we unloaded at the store.  The picture is the pile at the store. Afterwards, we worked in the living room of the apartment.  Things were moved around and better organized.  There is still a bunch more to do.  I'm hoping to get the room a little more usable this week, while still storing lots of boxes.   After lunch, I met friends for a walk at Livingston Park.  The park has been partly closed for renovations for a while.  It was good to be back there.  It is a more or less central location for the four of us that met there this tim...

Pack Monadnock

Image
Happy Sunday! This morning I actually got up and going faster than I usually do.  I did some reorganizing in the room that wants to be a living room but is more like a box room.  Progress was made. Some friends and I made it up Pack Monadnock today and climbed the fire tower located at the top.  It is wonderful having people to share adventures with.  I have visited nine of the fifteen NH fire towers over the last few years. Boston skyline. Zoomed more. Gnarly tree. Two fabulous ladies. The geomarkers were under the tower. There seems to be snow on Mount Monadnock.  Waterfall on the Raymond Trail. Big downed tree. At home I got a quick dinner ready for the family.  Then the exhaustion hit.  I think I'll sleep well tonight. ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Assassin , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke up earlier than I wanted to. I kept warm under the covers for a while. I kept getting automated messages from work about extra shifts. One of them was for 9:10 this morning. I had plenty of time to get ready, but I didn’t. I researched tents instead. Around 8 AM it was still available. I decided to take a shower and get ready to go, if it was still available after all that, maybe I would go in. It was, so I got an extra two hours and ten minutes or so of work. Usually I hesitate and the jobs are gone. This weekend, people aren’t snapping them up. I’m glad I went in. After work I did a little bit of grocery shopping. Friendly’s Ice Cream is on sale this week at Market Basket. Their seasonal flavor, peppermint stick, is available for the holidays. I bought two. Now that I am using the refrigerator in the apartment, I’m stocking up on a few things. There were two boxes in my room that I needed to go through. I have...

Memory

Fridays are becoming a day that I don't get much done.  I'm going to try to work on that next week.  Here are some happy things from today: This morning I woke up early and stayed in bed way too long.  Eventually I got up and cleaned the bathroom before taking a shower.  This seemed like a wonderful accomplishment.  The internet grabbed me again after and I didn't have breakfast until about noon.  The research rabbit hole and short videos took up more time than it should.  There is another item in my online cart to be ordered and my bathroom is clean.  That is two wins. My friend, TF, called in the afternoon.  We talked for around two hours.  During that time I took a walk, saw the sunset, and the full moon rise. The white glow among the trees is the moon. Sunset and Venus. For a short time I went through a box.  There are things from that box that I want to keep, and some I don't.  There are craft things like fabric scraps, us...

Moon Rise

Some happy things from this Wednesday: It's Wednesday.  My work week is two thirds over.  I was hoping to pick up some extra hours, but there hasn't been any available.  Instead, I'm tired and looking forward to the weekend.  After work I remembered to deliver yesterday's boxes to the storage unit. I'm happy they are out of the house and out of my car. The moon is getting close to full.  It was rising as the sun was starting to set.   ☮ Currently listening to: The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity , by David Graeber & David Wengrow. Sorting

Here are some happy things from today: They fed us at work today.  I looked at the work engagement calendar and it looks like we will get something on Thursday, too.  It was Chinese food today and I got some fried rice.   After work I had a message from Keziah about working on the boxes in the apartment.  I thought it sounded like a great idea, until I got home and was exhausted.  I think I fell asleep for a little bit, and she ended up running late, so I had a little bit of energy.  She has a friend that came and helped us too. We didn't have a lot of time and things were mostly just moved around.  Many things need to go to either DIY Craft & Thrift or the studio.  Most of the studio things are going to the storage unit for now.  We need to organize the studio again too.  I took some before and after pictures.  There is still a long way to go. Before After Before After Sunset!! ☮ Currently listening to: The Dawn of Everyth...
