It was an SCA event kind of day.  Here are some happy highlights: This event was almost all about classes.  If Keziah and I hadn't needed to have a time and place for some more champion's competitions, there would have just been classes.  Thankfully, the event steward was gracious and let us have our Arts and Sciences and Rapier Competitions at this event.  Yay!  We have new Champions! The competitions were later in the day.  In the morning I had time to go to a class.  Since one of the things I found when I moved was a spindle and wool, I took the beginner drop spindle class.  Years ago I had put the spindle away when I started struggling with some things. I can't say that I don't still struggle, but I learned some things to lessen the struggle.  What I need more of is practice.  I got some today and practiced a little more when I got home.  Before the event ended we held a small court.  The new Champions were announced and ca...

Mimir's Well

Happy Sunday things: For some reason, today is the day that someone decided to introduce the cats to Cat TV.  I'm not sure where Nanni was, but Winston seemed to like it. Winston This morning Gideon and I left for a long drive to go to an event in Vermont.  It was a good thing that the event didn't start until the afternoon, even with their late start time, we were later!  We stopped and picked up some nice crepes for lunch in Montpelier on the way.  The snow, mountains, ice, and all the views were lovely. Waiting for crepes. The event, Mimir's Well, was fairly small, which I like.  It was far enough away that only a couple other people came up from Stonemarche.  There were only a few other people that I knew.  The day was all about taking classes.  Together, Gideon and I got to the last bit of Acid-etching on Brass.  Then I took a class on Cordage Making and then Making Oil Lamps for Your Camp.  Gideon went to the History of Games class...

Happy Birthday Gideon

Happy things from this busy day: This morning, I jumped out of bed when I realized it was the third day of February and I hadn't paid my mortgage.  The mortgage is paid and I can forget about that for another month.  🤣 Before heading out for the day I spun the wheel to clean/organize something in my room.  “Closet” won the spin so I set my timer for fifteen minutes and went through the clothes.  I did some rearranging, found two shirts I don't want anymore, and removed the garb I had in my closet and put it into another closet for garb.  A few things I pulled out I hadn't seen in a while and decided to wear them today.   Spinner  What a mess! These are scarves that I forgot were hanging in my closet. Garb and Winston. It looks a little better. Gideon, my grandson, turned twelve today.  On the way to the store, I took him out for lunch at Five Guys.  Happy Birthday, Gideon!  We met some of his family at the Golden Corral Resta...

There are people I was hoping to see today, that I didn't.  There are people I was hoping to see that I did.  It was a good day.  There were many things that kept me busy all day.  Here are some happy highlights: There were five newcomers that joined Keziah and I at a meet and greet this morning.  For me, meeting new people can be hard.  This planned part of the day can make it a little easier.  This time, Keziah did most of the talking, last year, I feel like we split it up better.  This isn't a problem, just an observation.  There were many wonderful creations at the Arts & Sciences exhibit.  There were more tablet weaving pieces than I expected to see.  There were calligraphy and illumination items, fiber arts, archery, and even a display on siege engines.  Once again, other responsibilities kept me from attending the martial activities.  One of those responsibilities is walking through the merchant area to choose o...
