More Roses!

Image
Happy things from Tuesday: It is easy to tell how tired I am when I drive five minutes from work and fall asleep in the parking lot of the grocery store.  Yay, nap!  I have to stop thinking the rose bush is done for the year.  There is another flower blooming and another bud.   The Inktober prompt I sketched out today was Horizon. It is the thirteenth prompt for 2024.  ☮ Currently listening to:  Sabriel , by Garth Nix. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Working Title

Happy Wednesday things: Work went fairly well last night.  This is the second day in a row I've stayed about an hour late.  It has been busy and there has been a bunch to do.   What I thought was the last rose seems to have blossomed a sibling?  It makes for a pretty splash of color. I don't draw well.  Perhaps I'm coming to terms with this.  Since I am behind on the Inktober prompts I did two today.  My skill is lacking, but even if it isn't obvious in the work, I like what I'm trying for and that my imagination wants to wake up in this way.  ☮ Currently listening to: The Silmarillion , by J. R. R. Tolkien.  Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Wicked Long Day and Post

Image
Last night I got home rather late and this morning I got up early.  It was hard to get out of bed this morning.  I did though. I was only about 30 minutes later to the SCA event, Coronation, than I wanted to be. I wanted to be early, and was just about on time.  Keziah hasn't been feeling well and decided to stay home rather than possibly get others sick too.  Here are some special moments from today: At different points throughout the day I asked for random bits of help from people.  Mostly things like, “Can you carry this for me?”  There was always someone there.  Sometimes the question is asked, and there is just no person available to lend a hand.  Today, I saw many helpers and this was good. Background:  What generally happens at a Coronation is the outgoing Majesties hold their final court.  It usually consists of lots of thank yous and jobs well done.  At the end there is a ceremony in which the Prince and Princess come in, o...

The Last Roses of the Season

Image
Happy Tuesday things: After working part of my night I went home to get ready to go to court.  I was summoned for the possibility of jury duty.  131 people showed up and they were looking for 14 jurors.  Only 100 people fit in the room with the judge and I was not part of that first hundred people.  I never had to go to that room and I was not chosen.  I am okay with that.   When I got home, I had a nice visit with Zed.  He and Keziah were away last weekend and he showed me some pictures of where they were in Vermont.  It sounds like they had a good time.  They were productive too.  They arranged a meeting with someone who has a shop similar to DIY Craft & Thrift.   The studio was my next stop for the day.  I still have a tunic for SCA wear that I am trying to finish for the son of Their Highnesses.  The arms were originally measured wrong and needed to be shortened.  I used scissors and the sewing machi...

Flowers

Image
Happy things from Thursday: When I left for work in the wee hours of the morning, I saw the first fireflies of the season!!  When Gideon and I came home from the store tonight, we saw more.  After work, I noticed some flowers near the house.  Some need to go and I hope I find the time and energy to pull them.   Nightshade- should pull. The flower of the Snowberry-should pull. Rosebuds.  Roses.  The roses stay.  I'm loving the scent of roses when I walk by . It is Thursday, the last day of my work week, so I had a short nap.  A little while after my nap, Gideon and I went to DIY Craft & Thrift to help out.  I measured and folded a bunch of fabric.  I forgot to take pictures.  Tomorrow the store reopens at noon.  They will be open until eight tomorrow night because it is First Friday in Concord.  I'm hoping for some pictures before the store opens. Since Gideon has school tomorrow I didn't stay as late at the store ...

More Water

Here are some happy things from today: Sometimes I wish I had been better at softball.  If I had, maybe I could have dunked one of the supervisors at work into the dunking tank.  That is how we ended our day, eating pizza and throwing balls at the target in order to dump someone into the tank.  It was fun watching, but not fun enough to keep me after my work day was finished.   If I was skilled in throwing a ball, maybe.  😉 The rhododendron is blooming and there are more roses blooming too.   ☮ Finished listening to: Dune , by Frank Herbert. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Today's happenings: This morning I went to a cafe in Concord to meet up with friends.  There is a group of us that meet most Sundays, I don't tend to make it there often.  There is research I have been wanting to do and this is the time I set aside to do that.  The research didn't happen.  Instead we talked about secret shenanigans.  It was a good morning. In the afternoon, my friend Amy came to help me move things.  She brought me plants for the apartment!   New plants! A polka plant and a crispy wave. Keziah was taking a nap, and Zed and Gideon were at the store.  Amy and I got boxes from my old room and took them downstairs to the living room in the house. Then when a bunch of boxes were in the living room, we brought them to the apartment being careful to not let the cats out.  I didn't see the cats, but we made sure to keep the door closed. When Keziah woke up I asked if she wanted to help and that if we could lock the cats in her r...

Motion

Here are some happy things from today: Things didn't go as planned today.  The battery for the drill died.  Forward motion happened with the closet rod though, that is good and hopefully it will be up soon.   The leaves on the rose bushes have opened.  No buds yet, but it looks nice. This afternoon, my friend, Amy, and I took a walk. Here are pictures of some of the flowering trees and things we saw. Rhododendron  Lilacs Something pretty and pink Close-up. Lens thinks it might be an azalea.  Red-wing black bird White petal carpeting I'm not sure the type of tree This evening some friends in the SCA and I had another technology night discussing the Wiki pages.  This time I got to work on my page as well as a friend’s.   ☮ Started re-listening to: Seedfolks , by Paul Fleischman. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
