Cleaning Day

Image
Happy Sunday things: Zed made breakfast for the family this morning.  It was very nice of him to do that.  It was delicious! Keziah and I went to the cafe to have a second breakfast and visit with some friends.  I'm hoping to start some sketching lessons in the next week or two with one of those friends. At home I decided it was time to do something about the kitchen.  I moved things around, swept, and mopped.  The dishes were still in boxes, some of them are clean and will make it to the cabinet when they are dry.  I had an area that had become a catch all that I cleaned up and set the microwave onto it.  I didn't spend any time on the refrigerator, but the stove is clean.  We thought the burners weren't working, it seems that the starter is what is broken.  They all light with a lighter. The Inktober prompt I chose to do today was number eight.  I wasn't able to catch up much, but I didn't fall further behind.  My original plan wa...

Projects Day

It was important to me that I wake up early today to do laundry.  I forgot.  Eventually, I remembered that there were hands on my time and I jumped out of bed to start my day.  Here are some happy highlights: The studio was my first stop.  Someone had given me fabric for favors and I needed to finish getting the fabric sewn so that another person can use their Cricket to put a design on them.  I'm happy to say that I sewed together thirteen favors and they should be on the way to their next step. Using the sewing machine this morning while the sun was shining in the window was very pleasant.   At home, I helped Keziah clean the kitchen.  It is overdue for a deep clean.  That won't be finished today, but there has been a vast improvement.  ☮ Currently listening to: Tales From Earthsea , by Ursula K. Le Guin. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Kitchen

Here are some happy things from today: It was a day of cleaning.  There are two drawers in the kitchen that I may decide to replace.  For now, the rest of that part of the kitchen is clean.   In the cellar, we have a bunch of window screens.  From my quick measuring and eyeballing, none of them will fit the two windows in my room that are missing screens.  Thankfully, I did find a screen for the kitchen window.  That got washed up and put back on.  The window is in an awkward place, behind the stairs.  It still lets air go through.  I didn't open the windows often in my other room.  Until I get an air conditioner, windows are important.  ☮ Currently listening to: Dune, by Frank Herbert. Periwinkle

Here are my happy things from today: At work, I was assigned to the Problem Solve area, which I like.  It got a bit busy and I had to have help in the last half of the day, but I'm glad I was able to be there. After a short rest at home, I was able to be productive in the kitchen.   In an attempt at finding some new growth, I stepped outside into the sunny afternoon.  Spring did not disappoint me.  There are periwinkle flowers blooming.  I even saw some bees collecting pollen.   ☮ Listening more to: My Name is Barbra , by Barbra Streisand.  Thank you for being part of my happy things. Planning and Prep Day

There have been bursts of activity today as we prepared for the coming week.  Here are some happy things: Tomorrow Gideon, Zed, and I are going to attempt to find a place in Vermont to see the total eclipse.  My fingers are crossed that things aren't unbelievably busy.  Wee! Also, Gideon will be going to camp from Tuesday to Friday and there has been lots of looking for things that need to be packed and laundry washed. Keziah and I did some straightening in the apartment.  We spent just a little bit of time.  The kitchen cabinets are mostly empty now.  I'm thinking about getting everything but the living room empty and then hiring someone to do the deep cleaning… It will most likely be me.  😁 Keziah and I also had a business meeting (SCA) to attend online for the Barony.  We have some new officers and that is good to see.  The stepping down process for us as Baron and Baroness is beginning.   Nanni ☮ Currently listening to: A Wizar...

The Witch Tree

Image
Happy Monday things: We all pitched in this morning and did some general house cleaning.  Bel and I even got most of the Christmas things put closer to where they belong.  We need a ladder to get them all the way away.  And only most of the things because I just saw a few stragglers! Bel and I got outside and wandered in the back property some.  We brought cutting instruments and cut back some of the plants with thorns.   The tree we call the Witch Tree is still standing.  I hope I make it back there more often once leaves are out to see how alive it is. ☮ Currently listening to Cat's Cradle , by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Still reading the book I didn't intend to, Saving Nora .  The author appears to be Josh Williams.   Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.
