Happy things for this lovely Tuesday: It was supposed to be a working day, but we got home so late last night and I hadn't slept so I took a personal day.  After sleeping later than I wanted to I still felt pretty drained, so I am glad I was able to take the time off. I didn't figure out what a beautiful day it was outside until the afternoon.  I got my errands run and I got the sump pump to work.  Two good things checked off my list. A walk around the yard showed me that the crocus plants have recovered quite nicely.  A few maybe were squashed by the snow, or maybe they were older, the rest look great.  The daffodils are getting closer to blooming.  Next to the daffodils something purple is coming up.  I think it is a hyacinth, but I don't remember from last year.  I know I planted something new in that area last year, but I don't expect that to come up. Daffodils and ?  Crocuses Here are some more pictures from yesterday's total solar...

Play Take 2

Here are some happy things from this lazy Saturday: TF called today and we set goals.  I even got some of them accomplished. It is good to have an accountability friend. A few months ago we had water in the cellar so I purchased a sump pump.  It didn't fit the hole.  By the time I got to exchanging it, the water was gone.  I still needed an extension cord.  Today that step was made toward getting the sump pump hooked up.  Now, the hose to go from the pump to the outside doesn't fit.  Tomorrow I'll try to remedy that problem.   Yesterday the crocuses were snow covered.  Today the snow melted enough that some are visible.  They don't look too bad considering they have been plowed over and salted on. The musical Gideon was in at school had its final performance tonight. Keziah was able to go.  It was great to see her reactions to some of the numbers.  There were some minor prop changes from last night.  Gideon, who playe...

Happy April!

Image
Some happy things from this first day of April: It took way too long but I was finally able to fix one of my email accounts.  I've been trying to pay the bill, and the system wouldn't let me.  Thankfully a phone call did the trick.  Since I really don't like making phone calls, I tried hard not to.  I'm glad it's done. The other personal business item I took care of today was making sure all the things I need for my passport appointment tomorrow are ready.  I read over the list again and I need original and photocopied documents.  So that has been taken care of.  Hopefully it will go smoothly tomorrow.  My shopping for the week is also done.  I took a few minutes to admire the crocuses.  We might be getting 6-12 inches of snow this week, so I'm glad I thought to look at them.   It looks like the majority of the bulbs I planted by the sidewalk have blossomed.  ☮ Currently listening to: Outlive: The Science and Art of Longev...

Weary Wednesday

Image
Happy Wednesday! At work, we finished early so we could celebrate something with food and games.  I say, ‘something’ because I'm not sure what it was.  There was enough side noise when they told us that I misheard it.  I thought they said that it was for Asian Appreciation Day.  However, the food definitely seemed more Mexican or Spanish.  I looked up both Asian Appreciation and Mexican Appreciation and those holidays don't seem to be in March.  The best I could come up with is that today is Spanish Paella Day.  Having looked up paella, I don't think that was a dish that was offered.  There was good food.  I'm glad that the company has these types of work engagements. The yellow bell flower that was in the front yard didn't last through the snow.  The crocuses did.  Some of the crocuses I planted in the front last fall are blooming now.  I had forgotten that some of them are yellow.   The last few nights I haven't had...

Fabric Sale Tomorrow

Image
Some happy things from today: The crocus I posted a picture of yesterday has bloomed today!  After work and food I went to Keziah’s store, DIY Craft & Thrift to help out.  The store is closed today, Tuesday.  Tomorrow they are having a big fabric sale.  I think the sale lasts all week.  All fabric will be $1.50 a pound.  So I helped move things around and get more fabric onto the floor to be sold.   Keziah Even though I live with my daughter, Keziah, and her family, our schedules don't always make it easy for us to just visit with each other.  I feel like we were able to do some of that today and it was nice. ☮ Currently listening to: Divergent Mind , by Jenara Nerenberg.  Thank you for being part of my happy things. Closer to Spring

Happy Monday things: This morning I had therapy.  Sometimes I don't know what to talk about.  Today I feel like I had a plan.  It didn't go completely as I hoped, but I feel like it went better than usual.  This is a happy thing. Nanni, our cat that has been sick, is doing much better.  Last time I wrote that, I admit I was still concerned.  She seems almost her old self now and we are all very happy for that. Sleeping Nanni. Outside, the daffodils are getting bigger.  The buds are visible.  The crocus plants seem to be coming up in bits.  There were the few last week, and a few this week. Eyes Open

Image
Happy things from today: Last night at work I'm fairly certain I fell asleep on my feet a few times.  It was just brief parts of a second that my eyes didn't want to stay open.  I'm also fairly certain this went unnoticed, I'm happy about that.  When I got home, I sat down in my room and did what I could to keep warm while practicing my DuoLingo.  It turns out, I couldn't keep my eyes open for long.  I went to the living room with a blanket, ate, then again, drifted off.  When I would think about writing this blog, all I could think of was sleep.  So I went outside.  Now, when I should be winding down to sleep, I'm awake. 😂 What I found outside was that it felt warmer than inside (it wasn't).  The sky and trees are beautiful.  The lilac bush is showing leaf buds.  The crocuses I took a picture of yesterday are open.  💜 ☮ Currently listening to: Divergent Mind , by Jenara Nerenberg. Tired Monday

Image
Happy Monday things: We got Nanni, our brown tabby who has been ill, to take her medicine today.  She was feeling well enough to make her way to the top of the bookshelf to rest.   There were things I wanted to do today, but I slept just over three hours last night and lacked energy today.  I am happy to say that I got the shopping I needed done for the work week.  I also picked up my prescription.  Yay! Today I reached a 1900 day streak on DuoLingo.  The wind has been whistling today.  It is a bit chilly, too.  There are more crocuses poking up through the earth. ☮ Started listening to: Divergent Mind , by Jenara Nerenberg. Self-care Morning

Image
Happy Monday things: It was a busy weekend.  Most of this morning I spent relaxing.  I played some games on my phone and read a bunch more of the book, Saving Nora .  Nanni, our brown tabby, was feeling well enough to be on my bed and I gave her lots of attention.  It was a self-care morning.  In the afternoon I brought Nanni to the vet and met Keziah there. Nanni got a brief appointment and an x-ray.  The blockage that has been causing so many problems, seems to be gone!  We are all very happy that she seems to be on the mend. At home, I went in search of crocuses.  I found some!   These are some that I planted in the fall. I don't think this is a crocus, it might be a tulip. ☮ Started listening to: Happiness for Beginners , by Katherine Center.   --I watched the movie a few months ago. Still reading the book I didn't intend to, Saving Nora .  The author appears to be Josh Williams.   Thank you for being p...
