Happy November

Image
It is hard for me to believe that it is November already.  The weather has been warmer than normal, making it seem more like spring.  Here are some happy things from today: This morning I spent some time cleaning.  I opened the windows for a while and let the warm, fresh air into the apartment.  I even cleaned the freezer. My friend Amy came to visit.  Concord's First Friday theme was Artwalk.  After visiting with Keziah and friends Amy & I walked around the city.  We enjoyed seeing what the artisans were selling.  Mostly, we walked around the city. As night settled in we picked up some food and headed for Craft Night.  After rummaging through some things in the studio I found some jewelry making supplies.  It seemed as good a time as any to try some of that again.  Some people in the SCA are calling this Novice November.  It is to inspire creativity with new crafts.  I decided to use some of the jewelry making supplie...

More Skirts

Happy things from today: This morning I sorted through a few things so I could move forward in my downsizing adventure.  I found more skirts, wool ones.  Two weeks ago I found six skirts.  Today I found four more.  None of them will fit me.  I'm in love with the green plaid one.  I thought they would be easy to get rid of, I was wrong.  I'm seriously considering finding ways to repurpose the wool, like making one skirt out of multiple skirts.  Dear reader, you may ask, what about this makes me happy?  I'm feeling excited about being creative with them.  Sure, there is some trepidation too.  But what if I create something fun or beautiful? The shirt at the top has the letter F embroidered on the sleeve.  It was my mother's and will not fit me.  I am ready to say goodbye to that.  That green and blue plaid is fabulous. Downtown Concord is closed for Market Days.  When I tried to go to Keziah’s store, the parking ga...

Big Friday

Happy Friday! Every year there is an SCA event in Pennsylvania, Pennsic.  For the last few years I have been in charge of our local encampment.  This year I am trying to train someone else to eventually take over, or at least take turns with this task.  Today they came over and we did all the things we needed in order to be prepared.  There are lists to complete later in June or early July, but there are things that I should have done already that are now complete.  It is a good feeling knowing that a task is complete. While my friend was here, we got my hope chest up onto the closet.  Now I can see the lovely flowers my grandmother painted for me.  I wish I could remember who the wooden chest belonged to.  I want to say Great Aunt Sally, but I'm not sure there was an Aunt Sally.  Oh, well. I tried going through boxes today.  There is one that I put a piece of paper on a while ago that says, “Needs thought.”  I looked through it som...
