2024 Happy Blog Challenge Continues

Happy happenings from today: This morning I think I fixed my toilet.  It wasn't horribly broken, just annoyingly.  The handle needed to be pushed very hard to flush and then jiggled so it wouldn't run.  A few adjustments and it seems much better. Gideon and I took the new-to-us cat, Boo, to the local vet this afternoon.  We had them check for a microchip and they did a quick local search for similar reported cats.  No other owner has been found.  I told them that we would keep him for now and see if he will integrate with our current cats.   Gideon and I came back from the vet in time to see the beginnings of a lovely sunset. Thursday's mean sleep to me. Here are some happy things from Thursday: At work, I got in early and stayed a little late. It is something I get to do when I am training people. Today at work I finally had time to organize the web addresses I need to get various tasks done. Since every laptop I use is different, just saving bookmarks doesn't work. I have messaged them all to myself so they should be easy to find in the future. At home I ate, played a game on my phone, and slept. There was a little bit of watching the Mandalorian too. I even got a load of laundry done. The best part about laundry is that it can be happening while I take a nap! The Google Game for Thursday. Distractions happen. I should make that into a sticker. This is a brief sketch of a place my mind went today. I'm going to show it to Keziah tomorrow. It needs some embellishment and color, but I think the idea might work.  Here are some happy Monday things: This morning, as I avoided getting out of bed, I swiped to this reel:  LINK .  If you aren't able to watch that video, let me just say that the person was suggesting that people aren't necessarily lacking motivation as much as they need to work on being more disciplined.  I'm not saying that he is correct, or that my interpretation is correct.  I have mixed feelings on this. I am saying it got me out of bed.  🙂 Keziah and I spent some time at the studio organizing things.  Between the arts & sciences over the weekend, researching my cousin Mary and  buttons, and spending time at the studio; I'm feeling inspired.  Keziah has been working on carving linoleum to do printing.  She has been selling some prints as patches.  I'm going to try to work more on projects, too. A friend has a cat they were given that doesn't like their dogs.  We are going to try and see if our cats will accept them....

Happy things from today: This morning, Nanni caught a mouse.  She was rewarded greatly.  No pictures, you're welcome.  😁 My friend and I headed for the mountains a little after 11:30 this morning.  We had a little miscommunication when it came to the plans which meant we stopped for lunch and to pick up a few things on the way.  Our plan is to go to two fire towers that are in the northern part of New Hampshire.  Along with that, we hope to explore and have fun along the way. On the way, we caught site of a another fire tower.  It is one that I visited back in 2021.  I hadn't realized it was along the way.  The tower itself was closed for renovations.  We had a nice walk up Mount Prospect.  We could have driven, but it was a good, short (about a mile) hike up the Heritage Trail.  Happy things from my first day back home: For a few hours this morning I just stayed in bed with games and things to watch on my phone.  The second best part of this was the air conditioner.  The best part was not having to go outside to use a porta-John. 🤭 Zed messaged the family informing us that we were out of cereal this morning and that he was going to take us out for breakfast.  We all ended up at the Windmill Restaurant which, in our opinion, has the best French toast in town.   We talked about windmills this morning. It seemed appropriate.  Bel has been busy working at DIY Craft & Thrift while we were gone.  After breakfast we went there to see all the changes and new things that have been donated to the store in the last two weeks.  It looks great.  Business was good while we were gone too. The backroom is much neater. Bel and I are planning a hike for Friday.  We talked about the possibility of hiking the Appalachian...

It is Thursday as I write this.  Normally today would end my work week.  Not this week.  Here are some happy things: Today at work the food was Crumble cookies.  Cookies are not truly a meal.  There are enough calories that I was not very hungry when I got home though.  It was delicious.  It was Crumbl's version of a golden Oreo. Yesterday I seem to have had enough sleep.  Other than a slow hour or so I was very much awake at work.  Yay, sleep! At home I went outside to try to get an artsy picture of the wild sweet William.  I also found what appears to be a yellow daylily.  I have done nothing for gardening this year.  I'm enjoying finding some of the things that are popping up. Some happy things from today: Keziah and I made it to the Sunday morning Closing Ceremonies for the event.  The competition was to see who could kill the most Vorpal Rabbits.  The scores were close, but it looked like Stonemarche and friends killed more than the Province of Malagentia and friends did.  In the end, we decided that the Vorpal Rabbits were defeated, and that was the most important part of the weekend. We were supposed to be off the event site by noon.  We didn't make it.  It was almost two before we left.  The heat slowed us down a lot.  Stopping for shade and water every few tasks was more important than getting out on time.  I've heard from members of our group and it looks like we made it home safely.  I had someone drive me to the event, but I drove myself home.  I'm very thankful to a long call with TF who helped me stay awake driving home. At home I pushed myself to get the car emptied and to get some of the unpacking...

Some happy things from today: It was a long work day in the Problem Solve Area.  I stayed about an hour and a half late.   Because of that, I know things are better for whoever works in Problem Solve tomorrow.  That makes me feel good.   At home I finished packing everything for camping this weekend that I don't need to use before I leave.  I'll pack those few items before I head to work tomorrow.  Everything else Keziah can bring in the trailer and minivan. Happy Tuesday things: It is warming up outside this week.  I'm happy that today, at work, I was able to stay inside, where there is some air conditioning.  It was still hot because we are active, but it would have been worse outside. After work I helped Gideon make eggnog.  He wanted to bring it to share with his Dungeons and Dragons friends.  I hope it came out alright.  It was my first time making it.   The privet bushes are starting to bloom.  They have tiny but fragrant flowers.  The plants are also much larger than most bushes at this point. Today's happenings: This morning I went to a cafe in Concord to meet up with friends.  There is a group of us that meet most Sundays, I don't tend to make it there often.  There is research I have been wanting to do and this is the time I set aside to do that.  The research didn't happen.  Instead we talked about secret shenanigans.  It was a good morning. In the afternoon, my friend Amy came to help me move things.  She brought me plants for the apartment!   New plants! A polka plant and a crispy wave. Keziah was taking a nap, and Zed and Gideon were at the store.  Amy and I got boxes from my old room and took them downstairs to the living room in the house. Then when a bunch of boxes were in the living room, we brought them to the apartment being careful to not let the cats out.  I didn't see the cats, but we made sure to keep the door closed.
