Spinning

Happy Sunday things: For the last few days I have been looking forward to going to a local cafe with friends.  Yesterday, two of those people canceled and today the rest did.  I admit, I let it get me down.  However, I went anyway.  I had something that I wanted to write about and the cafe seemed like the place to do it.  It turns out that it is easier to find an empty table when you are alone.  I was able to get my thoughts written out about something that I have been pondering on for a few days.  The end result of this pondering (brain vomit) is that I really need to focus more on finding a used car.   In my effort to downsize and organize in fifteen minute chunks, using the spinner system to help decide what to work on usually helps relieve some stress. However, when the spinner lands on ‘box’, I question my decision to use it.  Things in boxes are my biggest problem and what overwhelms me the most.  It took more than fifteen min...

Happy Birthday Gideon

Image
Happy things from this busy day: This morning, I jumped out of bed when I realized it was the third day of February and I hadn't paid my mortgage.  The mortgage is paid and I can forget about that for another month.  🤣 Before heading out for the day I spun the wheel to clean/organize something in my room.  “Closet” won the spin so I set my timer for fifteen minutes and went through the clothes.  I did some rearranging, found two shirts I don't want anymore, and removed the garb I had in my closet and put it into another closet for garb.  A few things I pulled out I hadn't seen in a while and decided to wear them today.   Spinner  What a mess! These are scarves that I forgot were hanging in my closet. Garb and Winston. It looks a little better. Gideon, my grandson, turned twelve today.  On the way to the store, I took him out for lunch at Five Guys.  Happy Birthday, Gideon!  We met some of his family at the Golden Corral Resta...

Happy Groundhog’s Day

Image
Happy things from Groundhog’s Day: It was not a good day to spin the wheel, but I'm happy I did.  Or perhaps the problem is that the arrow landed on ‘box’.  The deal with myself is that I will work for fifteen minutes on cleaning or straightening or sorting what the arrow lands on.  I opened three different boxes in fifteen minutes.  I am not ready to part with any of it.  Should I be?  Yes, I should.  The first box the items were in a bag that said, “Keep.”  It seemed to be my mom's personal things, like letters.  The second box had linens- tablecloths, napkins and such.  I thought that these are things I can use when I move into the mother-in-law apartment. The third box had winter clothes.  I pulled out a few items to use.  I did find a skirt that I don't know where it came from, but I don't want it.  So that makes one less thing.  That is good and gives me hope that I will find more things to say goodbye to. The ...

A Walk in the Park

Happy things from today: Spinning the wheel to determine where to put my energy for fifteen minutes has a new added benefit.  After spinning the wheel and turning to take my before picture, I heard a noise.  Nanni decided that she wanted to spin too!  That was fun to watch!   Nanni spinning the wheel. 'Desk' is what the arrow was pointing to when I spun it.  It doesn't look like much has changed after fifteen minutes, but I got rid of a bunch of old receipts and some trash.  My pockets tend to get emptied onto the desk. Before After Trash and recycling  The timer was set for Weaving too.  I didn't quite weave for fifteen minutes though.  I got to the end point of the background section and decided that starting the next pattern could wait.  Still, progress was made. Just a little more than an inch was woven today, I think. There were errands to run today.  In between, I met my friend, Amy, for a walk.  We met at Livingston...

Too Much Info

Image
My first happy thing for today is long and has information that I don't like to share.  I'm sharing anyway, because baby steps are important.  Feel free to skip it if you're short on time.  If you have read my blog in previous years you know I have a problem with stuff.  I have too much of it and I can't keep what I have organized.  Lately, I haven't tried.  This is much different compared to my work areas which I try to keep very organized.  I've allowed myself to become overwhelmed so much that I can't move.  I'll want to do things but can't decide where to start and don't.  The spinner I got is to help relieve some of this anxiety.  I'm also only dedicating fifteen minutes to this on days where I have the energy.  Yesterday I spun my spinner and it landed on trash so I took out the trash in my room.  Today I spun the spinner, it landed on trash… so I spun again and it landed on desk.  My desk is overflowing.  I set...

Flurries

Some happy things from this Saturday: This afternoon I took a walk.  The day was overcast and an occasional flurry had started to fall.  Winter has finally arrived. Passing a black mailbox I noticed all the little speckles of snow.  It reminded me of stars.  If I could take that picture again, I'd take it from overhead and see if I could imagine new constellations.  At Christmas I got a dry erase wheel spinner.  It was designed so people could create their own games.  I use mine for cleaning or organizing my room.  Today I spun and landed on trash.  The waste basket in my room and another in the house are empty.  In my ideal world, I'll spin this every day and slowly get things more organized. The hat I wore today was given to me a few years ago from my aunt.  It brought me some whimsy today. My real braids are much longer. ☮ Currently listening to: Robin , by Dave Itzkoff. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
