2024 Happy Blog Challenge Continues

Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah! Happy Whatever-you-do-on-this-day Day! Here are some happy highlights from my day: The rest of the family got up much later than I did.  Eventually everyone had eaten and presents were exchanged.  All the gifts were wonderful, however, Gideon won Christmas this year.  He created a scavenger hunt for Keziah that included us all.  Keziah got the first clue and each of us had a piece of the map and key.  "Gnomes" had hidden clues around the place and we had to find them.  Each clue had a gnome that Gideon had made, a gift for someone, and another clue.  Gideon did such a good job.  He used hints, YouTube, and the app What3Words to help lead us to the next clue.  We had a blast! My stocking haul.  They were all similar. That stocking of mine is almost as old as I am. Happy first day of December.   Here are some things from today that made me happy: When I finally got up and got going this morning, I made a list and stuck to it.  I went through a box and emptied it.  Some of it went to the trash and some just got moved around/put away.  There was a pile of Avon jewelry that I kept.  Everything was still in the boxes.  This is a problem I have, keeping boxes.  The jewelry is now put away and the boxes are in the recycle bin.  Yay, downsizing!   I also did some cleaning in my room, laundry, and dishes.  In my room I have a thing my mom made when I was a kid. It hangs and has little pockets on it. I'm sure I thought the fabric was really groovy.  Apparently I still do since I want to keep it.  I've been trying to figure out what to use it for and realized last week that my wallet fits into one of the pockets quite nicely.  I had some pins on it too and added some more from the je...

September 28th & 29th On Saturday morning, after a night of sleeping in the wilds of the White Mountains, my friend Stephanie and I woke up alive!  This was the expected outcome, of course.  I can't say that I slept through the night, or well, but I wasn't kept awake by noises.  It was mostly a pain in my lower back, probably from falling on Thursday, that made it hard to stay asleep.  The forest was much quieter than I expected.  I expected to hear critters of varying sizes making noises and wandering by.  I could have slept through noises, but when I was awake, I heard very little.  There wasn't even much of a breeze.  Anyhow, here are some other happy and not so happy things from Saturday and Sunday: We got up and out of our tents around seven-ish Saturday morning.  It took about two hours to get the bear bag (which appeared untouched), eat breakfast, and repack all our stuff before we were ready to continue our trek.  This was lo...
