Monday Off

Happy Monday things: It was a long, hot weekend.  This morning I did what felt like a lot of nothing.  In reality, I spent quite a bit of time wording an email.  The email is to the East Kingdom Royals in the SCA.  I wrote to recommend someone for an award.  This is something that I don't do very often, but should.  It was sent, and I'm glad I did it. As a last minute decision I messaged my friend, Amy, about taking a walk today.  There were many things I could be doing, but I'm going to be working overtime this week and I wanted to see my friend.  We had a great walk in the air conditioned mall.   Thanks to that walk and a little extra afterwards, I made my 10,000 step goal for today.  That makes day seven.  It has been a while since I had a seven day streak. I found another balloon flower.  It is popping up among the Virginia creeper. ☮ Currently listening to: Dune Messiah , by Frank Herbert. Thank you for being part of ...

GNE Day Three

Happy Saturday SCA things: A few days ago I ordered something that was delivered after I left for the event.  Gideon was driven up with a friend and they were kind enough to bring the box to the event as well.  Because of that, I was able to fly my banner outside our tent.   It is never a good thing when an ambulance shows up at an event.  Today in the heat one of my champions fell on the field and was brought to the hospital.  I am so thankful that they made it back to the event to tell their story. There was a vorpal rabbit archery shoot that I took the time to do.  I shot it twice, the first time I misunderstood the rules and so I counted that as a practice.  The second time I scored a total of 20 points out of the 21 possible.  It was a fun shoot. During morning court a dear friend was called in and asked to join the Order of the Pelican.  This is the highest award for service in the SCA.  She was asked at morning court, took th...

SCA Event Day in Pictures

Cat update:  Nanni, our brown tabby, has some kind of an obstruction.  We may have an expensive choice to make. On this day, March 2, 2024, my daughter, Keziah, became a peer of the realm by becoming a member of the Order of the Laurel in the SCA.  This is the highest level award they have in the Arts and Sciences category.   It was a joyful, busy day talking with people and celebrating those who earned awards today.  I took many pictures, here are a few. Where Keziah is called to contemplate. One of her scrolls. Their majesties placing the Laurel wreath on Keziah. ☮ Finished listening to Cat's Cradle , by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. Still reading the book I didn't intend to, Saving Nora .  The author appears to be Josh Williams.   Thank you for being part of my happy things.  Stay safe.
