Change

Some happy things from today: Sometimes at work a Process Assistant joins the table I sit at for lunch.  Process Assistants are sort of a middle management type position; they help manage individual areas of the workplace.  This time with someone meant that I was able to learn a little bit more about a change that will be happening before some others.  For me, knowing that a big change is coming can help me transition into the big change easier.  I think I roll with small changes easily.  Right now, in my life, there are a few big changes.  My brain has been busy making mental adjustments.  Anyhow, it was really nice to hear more about this change at work, before it happens. While giving a friend a ride we talked briefly about teaching art classes. I mentioned that I don't feel expert enough on anything to teach it. He gave me a wonderful compliment by telling me that he thinks I could teach an inkle or tablet weaving class.  When I was weaving of...

Weaving Wednesday

Happy Weaving Wednesday! At work tonight they assigned me to stow.  Stowing is what I was trained for first, but seldom do it now.  During lunch, someone came up and told me that I would be going to Problem Solve after lunch.  I felt like a weight had been lifted and a large smile crossed my face.  I knew that things had to be busy over there, or they wouldn't need me.  It was just the break I needed from stowing.  There was a lot to do at Problem Solve and I enjoyed it all. There was also a Safety Committee meeting today.  They served pizza.   It seems that I am anxiously awaiting signs of spring.  I even seemed to find some.  It looks like the iris plants are already popping up.  This particular area has tubers coming out of the ground, it is so full of plants.  I thinned some up two years ago, but there is still a lot more that can go. Since it is Wednesday I decided to pull out my loom and see if I could figure out the...

There are people I was hoping to see today, that I didn't.  There are people I was hoping to see that I did.  It was a good day.  There were many things that kept me busy all day.  Here are some happy highlights: There were five newcomers that joined Keziah and I at a meet and greet this morning.  For me, meeting new people can be hard.  This planned part of the day can make it a little easier.  This time, Keziah did most of the talking, last year, I feel like we split it up better.  This isn't a problem, just an observation.  There were many wonderful creations at the Arts & Sciences exhibit.  There were more tablet weaving pieces than I expected to see.  There were calligraphy and illumination items, fiber arts, archery, and even a display on siege engines.  Once again, other responsibilities kept me from attending the martial activities.  One of those responsibilities is walking through the merchant area to choose o...

Birka One

Some happy things from the first day of the Market Day at Birka Event: The roads were slick this morning with sleet and freezing rain falling from the sky.  My ride arrived to get me safely and got us to the event safely.   Every once in a while things that one doesn't expect to happen, happen.  Today that was my hotel room being available (and they let me have it) long before it was supposed to be.  Also, I got a corner room with a king sized bed all to myself!   The lovely view from my hotel room. Finished the weaving! It has been really good so far seeing all the people.  When I have a task, it doesn't even seem overwhelming.  It is a good thing there are so many things to do here. Keziah was supposed to read to children, But no children showed up. Giant cookie The young man on the right made the cookie for Keziah. Relaxing at the end of the day on the couch in my hotel room.  I'm pretty sure it opens up to allow for more people. ☮ Cu...

Weaving Wednesday

Here are some happy things from Weaving Wednesday: At my job some of the tasks we do have an average amount per hour that we are supposed to try to reach.  I don't know what the average is for what I worked on today.  I do know that my average rate per hour was in the 900's last time they told me and it was in the 1000's today.  Yay! It was an ice cream float day at work.  I got a yummy rootbeer float. The weaving I didn't make time for yesterday, I made time for today.  Hopefully, this means I finish weaving the band tomorrow, and have it ready for this weekend. Nanni wanted to help.  😉 Snow! ☮ Currently listening to: My Name Is Barbra , by Barbra Streisand. ❤ Finished listening to the interview with my daughter for a radio show.  It can be found here: https://www.nhtalkradio.com/?p=20536 ❤ Thank you for being part of my happy things. Primary Day

Some happy things from today: Yesterday I got very little sleep, but I made it through the night at work.  I think it helped that they moved me from the pick line, which is active and boring; to the Problem Solve section which isn't as active, but I had to use my brain.   Zed and I went to the polls when I was home from work and voted.  Keziah went first thing this morning.  Zed brought Gideon with him as a learning moment.  Gideon has been researching and learning about the election at school and home. Since I am so tired I didn't get as much weaving done as I wanted, but I worked on it until I started falling asleep.  It didn't take long.  I keep drifting off as I write this too.  It is time for bed. ☮ Currently listening to: My Name Is Barbra , by Barbra Streisand. ❤ Started listening to the interview with my daughter for a radio show.  It can be found here: https://www.nhtalkradio.com/?p=20536 ❤ Thank you for being part of my happy t...

Nostalgic Restaurants

Image
Happy things from today: The amount of weaving I was hoping to do today got done.  It got done with a mistake, but I'm letting it go because I don't think it is very noticeable.  I hope.   Snow on the trails makes it harder to walk through, there is an extra amount of resistance.  I walked along a rail trail with my friend, Amy, and I'm feeling it now; it isn't that bad, just more than I expected.   Maybe it is because I walked in the snow on Friday as well? I don't know.  It was a good walk with great company. There are certain things, in this case a restaurant, that bring on a large sense of nostalgia.  I would have to say that Skip's Snack Bar, formally a mainstay in Merrimac, MA, is one such restaurant for me.  For Keziah, one restaurant that is nostalgic for her is the Golden Corral .  It is a restaurant chain that was common in Texas.  As it has buffet style eating, and was affordable, we would frequent there when she was...

DIY Again

Some happy things from this cold day: The weaving project is more than half done.  It will take some time to finish.  There are many things I should be doing,  weaving and helping Keziah are my priorities until I go back to work in a few days. Much of my day was spent at Keziah’s store, helping to clean, sort, and organize things.  The store, DIY Craft & Thrift, is closed until the end of the month so that some reorganizing and planning can take place. While helping out today I was able to talk with someone who is planning to climb all the 4000 foot and above mountains in New Hampshire this year.  There are 48 so she has her work cut out.  I'm hoping to be able to join her hiking on a few of them.   Winston snuggled up in a cat bed next to Gideon's computer.   ☮ Currently listening to: My Name Is Barbra , by Barbra Streisand. DIY

Some happy things from today: This morning I took a nice walk with a friend.  We went to Heads Pond Trail.  I went there late last year.  There is a tree that they decorate for Christmas.  It is still decorated. Most of my day I spent not at home.  I did get a small amount of the weaving done, though.  Yay, progress! Part of my time today was spent working with Keziah at DIY Craft & Thrift.  The store will be closed next week while remodeling.  There will be a lot to do there.  The piece she got last week is up and displaying our friend's crocheted creations.  It looks great! One of the artists that shares the same store front with Keziah does wood burning art.  Look at what she did to the artist doll! ☮ Currently listening to: My Name Is Barbra , by Barbra Streisand. Thank you for being part of my things. Stay safe.

Dentist Day

Image
Today, some happy things are: Thursdays are supposed to be my nap days.  I feel like I got just enough sleep this afternoon to function with the family tonight.  It is always good to spend time with the family.   After getting out of work a little early I drove home, brushed my teeth, changed my shoes, and drove to my dental appointment.  I don't enjoy getting my teeth cleaned, I do love how my teeth feel after.  I rewarded myself for going to the dentist by getting ice cream.  😋 I only wove a little bit today.  I set a goal of at least fifteen minutes, and to finish weaving the letter ‘A’.  It took almost thirty minutes because I made a mistake and had to reweave a little bit.  I'm really close to the halfway point of this project.  I'm about a  week away from when I want it to be finished. Zed turned on the propane fireplace while we watched a program.  Yay, coziness! ☮ Finished listening to: My Family and Other Animals...
