Here are some happy things from today: Even with all the hiking I did in the fall, I still feel very out of shape.  I walked to the store again today and it really felt like I was dragging.  But I did it.  Four miles into the city. Yay! Most of my time at DIY Craft & Thrift was spent reorganizing the stationary/scrapbook section.  It looks much better than yesterday, but there could still be more work done.  There is so much paper there!  There is lined paper and notebooks, construction paper, photo paper, origami paper, and scrapbook paper.  And there are so many stamps!  The store is going to look great when it reopens on Tuesday.   Keziah played sword fighting (the swords were florals) with a friend. So much fabric got reorganized by another friend today. A very small part of the scrapbook section.  Currently, I'm working hard to get to bed early.  Tomorrow is my transition day back to working nights and I want to start ...

Down Day

Most of the day I did a lot of nothing.  Eventually I got moving and have some happy things to share: It was a beautiful fall day with temperatures reaching over 70 degrees.  I decided to walk to DIY Craft & Thrift and get a ride home from there with Zed.  It was a lovely walk and definitely helped to improve my mood and the achy back I've had recently.  Keziah called from the SCA event she went to this weekend.  The event is not in our Barony but she managed to get a Baronial Youth Fighting Champion.  This is something I kept thinking we should do, but I never remembered at the right time.   It sounds like it was a fun event.  There may even be some local war shtick that could come out of this. For Inktober I attempted two of the prompts. ☮ Started listening to: Lirael, by Garth Nix. Finished listening to: Sabriel, by Garth Nix.  Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

North Country

Happy things from today: This morning, Nanni caught a mouse.  She was rewarded greatly.  No pictures, you're welcome.  😁 My friend and I headed for the mountains a little after 11:30 this morning.  We had a little miscommunication when it came to the plans which meant we stopped for lunch and to pick up a few things on the way.  Our plan is to go to two fire towers that are in the northern part of New Hampshire.  Along with that, we hope to explore and have fun along the way. On the way, we caught site of a another fire tower.  It is one that I visited back in 2021.  I hadn't realized it was along the way.  The tower itself was closed for renovations.  We had a nice walk up Mount Prospect.  We could have driven, but it was a good, short (about a mile) hike up the Heritage Trail. Tonight we are staying at a campground along Lake Francis.  It is a large lake and the Connecticut River feeds it and leaves it.  The river is, o...

Home From Canada

Happy Father's Day! Every once in a while I feel the need to thank my ex-husband for introducing me to the SCA.  This weekend has been one of them.  Not just because of the interesting event site, but because I was able to experience it with three lovely ladies that are just some of the fabulous people I have met through this group. The drive home was happily uneventful.  I was asleep again during the White Mountains in NH, but I was awake during the drive back to the USA through Canada.  I got to see the St Lawrence River this time. At home we had a Father's Day dinner.  Zed's dad came to visit and it was good to see him and to be home. The last few days of Blogs have been updated to include the pictures!   Here are today's pictures: We are busy packing, but we claimed this porch over the weekend. It lent a great feel to the atmosphere.  Saying Goodbye to the event. Saint Lawrence River  And the bridge. ☮ Thank you for being part of my...

High Water

Some happy things from today: We were out of milk this morning so Keziah and I went out for breakfast.  Outside the window where we sat and across the parking lot there is a line of trees.  I noticed that one of the trees, the largest, seems to be dying.  It is possible the tree is just lacking leaves.  However, that mottled tree, probably because of its location, seems very beautiful to me.  It stands, old and fading among the others.  Tall and bare, I'm sure it is still home to many insects and other creatures.  It was a nice resting spot for crows as I sat and had my breakfast.  Writing this in the evening, I wish I had gotten a closer look at that tree. Keziah and I went to an SCA event.  There were a few people getting awards that we wanted to see.  We only stayed for a little while and I forgot to take pictures during most of court.  It was good to visit with friends.   On the way home, the Highway was next to the Me...
