Christmas Day

Image
Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah! Happy Whatever-you-do-on-this-day Day! Here are some happy highlights from my day: The rest of the family got up much later than I did.  Eventually everyone had eaten and presents were exchanged.  All the gifts were wonderful, however, Gideon won Christmas this year.  He created a scavenger hunt for Keziah that included us all.  Keziah got the first clue and each of us had a piece of the map and key.  "Gnomes" had hidden clues around the place and we had to find them.  Each clue had a gnome that Gideon had made, a gift for someone, and another clue.  Gideon did such a good job.  He used hints, YouTube, and the app What3Words to help lead us to the next clue.  We had a blast! My stocking haul.  They were all similar. That stocking of mine is almost as old as I am. There is a company that makes shirts based on old stores that have gone out of business.  My mom used to work for both Zayre and Ames...

Into the Outside (Briefly)

Yesterday seems to have been the worst day of this cold.  It went from -maybe an allegry- to -ugh- overnight.  It is far from gone, but better than yesterday. Here are some happy things from today: Tonight, I am supposed to work. That is my intention. That meant shopping for cold meds today. It was good to get out of the house, even though it is very cold. I wore a mask and wandered around a couple stores for stocking stuffer style gifts. If I was out, I may as well look for things. The important cold medication was not forgotten, so hopefully, I will be all set for tonight. Keziah called to let me know about some of the people that came to the party yesterday. That was nice to hear. It was a game playing party and Gideon apparently did awesome playing Bananagrams. He was rightfully proud for forming the word sequoia.  My friend Stephanie and her husband brought their dog.  Keziah said that he was well behaved.   Bel brought over the birthday cook...

Friendsgiving

Here are some happy things from today: As the holidays got closer, I expected to work five ten hour days a week. So far, my schedule does not reflect that. This made the holiday party (our Friendsgiving) much more enjoyable for me today. I thought I would be going after working a ten hour shift and instead I slept.   Every year my SCA household tries to gather around the holidays and share a meal.  Most of the household members were able to be there today and it was wonderful to see them all.  I only managed to pull the camera out once to take a couple of random pictures.  It seemed like everyone was having a good time. I'm very grateful that I was able to carpool with some friends to the party today.  It made getting home a lot easier for me.  It was a wonderful day with friends, but it was wonderful to get home and see the family.  ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Traiter , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Busy Day

Image
This morning, I expected to hurt more from yesterday's hike and I didn't.  I also had more energy than I expected.  Here are some other happy things from this lovely Monday: Keziah had a pickup this morning of donations for her store, DIY Craft & Thrift.  It was from one lady that has been donating since the beginning.  I helped fill Keziah’s van with craft supplies (mostly yarn).  Then we unloaded at the store.  The picture is the pile at the store. Afterwards, we worked in the living room of the apartment.  Things were moved around and better organized.  There is still a bunch more to do.  I'm hoping to get the room a little more usable this week, while still storing lots of boxes.   After lunch, I met friends for a walk at Livingston Park.  The park has been partly closed for renovations for a while.  It was good to be back there.  It is a more or less central location for the four of us that met there this tim...

Pack Monadnock

Image
Happy Sunday! This morning I actually got up and going faster than I usually do.  I did some reorganizing in the room that wants to be a living room but is more like a box room.  Progress was made. Some friends and I made it up Pack Monadnock today and climbed the fire tower located at the top.  It is wonderful having people to share adventures with.  I have visited nine of the fifteen NH fire towers over the last few years. Boston skyline. Zoomed more. Gnarly tree. Two fabulous ladies. The geomarkers were under the tower. There seems to be snow on Mount Monadnock.  Waterfall on the Raymond Trail. Big downed tree. At home I got a quick dinner ready for the family.  Then the exhaustion hit.  I think I'll sleep well tonight. ☮ Continued listening to: Daindreth's Assassin , by Elisabeth Wheatley. Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
