Reel Long

Some happy things from today:

  • Last night I fell asleep on the couch while YouTube played miscellaneous shows on the TV.  This resulted in me not getting to sleep until after midnight.  As I put my head on my pillow I noticed my stuffed llama had a spectacle and this made me chuckle.  The spectacle is a magnifying glass necklace that is draped from my lamp.  It fell in just the right spot.

  • My plan was to take a few minutes to scroll the internet and then be productive.  I was looking at reels and I scrolled to one that had someone decorating cakes. When I was a kid I took cake decorating classes in 4-H so I was enjoying watching this.  Some reels have music, this one seemed to be telling a story.  It took way too much time for me to realize that this wasn't a short story, it was a novel. There were a lot of cakes decorated before I figured this out.  It wasn't the best story, but it got me interested.  The reel stopped, and I was left hanging with the story.  I searched a bit and eventually found it and started reading, instead of listening.  I haven't finished it yet.  I'm not sure if the entire thing is there or if the story is even complete.  I'm up to chapter 37 and I am afraid to close the window so I don't lose my place.  Pieces of the story seem to be coming together so I think I'm nearing the end.
  • Sunset!

  • Curia, the local SCA meeting for our Barony, was tonight.  Keziah, Gideon, and I went to a friend’s house to help with their children during the meeting.  One spouse was running the meeting and the other had accidentally scheduled a class at the same time.  Keziah and Gideon played with their little ones while I attended the meeting in another room.  In this meeting it was announced that Keziah and I are stepping down this fall as Baron and Baroness and that we are looking for heirs.  There were also some other officers that switched hands.
  • On the way home, we got shakes from McDonald's for dessert.  Gideon and I got Shamrock shakes, Keziah stuck with chocolate.

Also listened to and am reading something online.  The title is Saving Nora. I can't find the author without possibly losing my place.

Snow Day

Happy things for Saturday: When I woke up in the early pre-dawn morning, the snow was reflecting all the light it could find.  It was pretty, from the inside of the house.  I went back to sleep. Later in the day the snow turned to rain.  Through the window, it was still pretty outside.  Keziah didn't open the store because of the storm. Today was a day that mostly included resting.  I stayed inside.  Some of the few things I accomplished include making dinner, dishes, laundry, and cleaning out one of my drawers.  I even found a few things that aren't going back into the drawer, yay! Zed went out late in the day and picked up some garlic bread to go with lasagna.  He also went to Crumbl and picked up some cookies.  They were delicious cookies. Socks

Happy Wednesday things: Yesterday, I forgot to write that I am the Safety Committee Member of the Month.  This means I have the number one parking spot at work until the end of June. On Monday I started to consider the reality that my car gets really hot in the sun.  This prompted me to consider ways of covering the gear shift knob.  Rather than spending money, I decided to use an old sock.  Before going to work I pulled down my basket of unpaired socks.  I found a holey pair and one of them is now over my gear shift knob.  The other half of that pair is in the car waiting for a purpose.   It works for now.  I should stitch it. And, I took the time to look for matches and have put away NINE pairs of socks.  These tasks took time, and almost made me late for work.  Good thing I have the prime parking spot!  😉 I like socks... Happy things from today: On Monday we went to Ikea.  The van has served as the storage unit for our purchases until this morning.  After emptying the van we went to DIY Craft and Thrift for some paints.  Having a daughter who owns a crafting thrift store has benefits.  Today that benefit was taking home a lot of paint (before the store officially opened) and I'll be able to return what isn't used so she can sell it.   While at the store, one of the artists was in the building with their dog, Jazzy.  Jazzy was extremely happy to see me.  She followed us around the store and kept politely asking me for pets.   Photo courtesy Keziah Keziah and I ran some errands and then we started painting.  The stairway is now the only area that still needs another coat of white.  I didn't look at the clock much, but it was after eight in the evening when I stopped for the night.  I think the painting is roughly ⅔ of the way done.  Kez...
