Another Long Day

Cat update: it is possible that Nanni passed whatever the obstruction was.  This morning the person feeding and caring for the cats while we were gone said she was seeming much better and actually ate a bunch of her food.  Keziah searched through the litter boxes and might have found the problem.  Unfortunately, we can't be sure.  She seems so much happier now.

Here are some other happy things from today:

  • We stayed at a hotel last night so we didn't have to drive far for sleep after the busy day yesterday.  The rooms weren't cheap, but we were all so tired it was the safer choice to make.  The room Bel, a friend, and I shared had a kitchenette and living room area.  Then, in a separate room, were the two queen beds and off that, the bathroom.  I have never been in such a large hotel room.  And the shower, oh.my.gosh.  The shower had three shower heads with two controls.  I think the room was set up to accommodate people with physical challenges because of the rails.  It was a very nice room.  The breakfast buffet was really good too.


  • We stopped to pick up Gideon from a friend's house and then headed to a museum, The Icon Museum and Study Center.   There were many interesting pieces on exhibit.  I found some of the artistry, especially the pieces with tiny details, amazing.

Keziah commented on how similar her desk is to what is in this display.

I found the use of paintings with metal embellishments very interesting.

  • After the museum we went out to lunch at a place nearby called The Sunshine Cafe.   I had some fabulous cinnamon French toast.  This is another eating establishment that I found interesting art in the restroom.

  • After showering Nanni with attention and watching some Bluey, Keziah went to bed.  The rest of the household played a game of Calico.  I was tired, but it was a lot of fun.  There was much laughter.

Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Sore Thursday

Here are some happy Thursday things: In an attempt to make a long story short, last week I fell and things didn't seem too sore.  Then I went hiking and backpacking, again, not too bad.  Follow this with work where I needed to get up and down from the floor and now I am having enough aches and pains that I've been taking ibuprofen.  Why is this part of my happy list?  The ibuprofen worked.  It wasn't perfect, but while on it, there was a lot of improvement.  So much so that around 5.5 hours after taking it, I could tell the pills had worn off.  Okay, maybe the story wasn't short.  🙂 I remembered to mend the seam on the gown I'm planning to wear Saturday.   It needs a little more done, but not today. Sleepy Time

Here are some happy things from today. At work, I survived a shift of stowing.  For this, and other reasons, I should practice squatting more often.  Perhaps it is time for me to find an exercise challenge.  I seem to do well with challenges like that. On the way home TF called.  We hadn't talked for a while.  Embarrassingly, I eventually fell asleep during our conversation.  I guess it has been a long week.  We ended our conversation and I took a nap.  My alarm goes off at 3:30 every afternoon.  Soon after that Keziah called.  This helped wake me up enough to go eat.  Food is important.  Keziah thought Zed was going somewhere tonight and I might like to join him. He wasn't, so I went and rested for a few minutes.  Hours later I woke up.  I missed Craft Night and had eighteen minutes to get a DuoLingo lesson done before midnight.  🤣 It was a work, sleep, eat kind of day.  Thankfully I thought to get a pictu...
