Flowers

Some happy things from today:

  • The forsythia bush is blooming.  My memories on Facebook showed a picture from two years ago with the yellow forsythia flowers so I made a point of looking today, and there they are!  It has been rainy most of the week, so the color is nice.

  • The daffodils are just starting to open and the hyacinth is a little bigger.  I should spend more time out in the yard.  It is nice to see them growing.

  • Both our cats are family cats.  However, Winston tends to gravitate towards Keziah.  Nanni gravitates towards me, at least on my days off.  Today Winston jumped up onto my bed, and then me.  He made himself comfortable on my abdomen.

  • Gideon has been away at camp with school this week.  I picked him up this afternoon.  It was so good to see him!  We went right to the store so he could see his parents.

  • Part of my plan for today was to sort through some things in my bedroom.  I spun the wheel of chores and the arrow landed on box.  I sighed and set the timer for 15 minutes.  Looking at the mess that is my room I spotted a box and decided to check it out.  It contained a sleeping bag.  I thought about putting it back where I found it.  Then I thought some more.  I own at least four sleeping bags.  I am one person.  I have a backpacking sleeping bag which is lightweight and mummy shaped.  I have a nice heavy one that is nylon on the outside, but soft flannel on the inside.  I have a pair that are nylon on the outside and a scratchy, uncomfortable fake flannel on the inside. The one in the box is one of the pair.  The other half of that pair I have on my bed.  It has been there for a long time.  There are other blankets and a sheet between me and the uncomfortable nylon and it has done well to keep me warm.  It also has protected the handmade quilt from the cats.  I'm going to say goodbye to the pair.  All this took way less than fifteen minutes.  I sorted through miscellaneous things in my room for the rest of the time.  And then I made my bed differently.

The color is a little different, I like it.

Currently listening to: A Wizard of Earthsea, by Ursula K. Le Guin.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
