A New Plant!

As I write this, the weather app on my phone says that it is 83 degrees outside.  I'm too tired to enjoy it much.  Each time I walk between the house and the apartment, I pause for a moment to appreciate it.  Here are some happy things from today:

  • After not getting much sleep last night I made it through the entire ten hour shift without falling asleep.  The company made it hard, too.  There was a meeting about seven hours into the shift that I had to sit down for longer than I would normally.  Falling asleep in front of the person that runs the building I work in would have been bad.  😅
  • A week or so ago I noticed something growing in the triangle where the tulips and crocuses are.  I didn't look closely but I thought it was staghorn sumac and almost pulled it.  I'm glad I didn't, I think it is the peony I planted sometime last year.  Yay new plants!

  • There are some other new things in the yard.  I assume that the flower and gnome (pictured below) are things Keziah was gifted for Mother's Day.   They are bright and cheerful and I like them.

Happy Wednesday things: Yesterday, I forgot to write that I am the Safety Committee Member of the Month.  This means I have the number one parking spot at work until the end of June. On Monday I started to consider the reality that my car gets really hot in the sun.  This prompted me to consider ways of covering the gear shift knob.  Rather than spending money, I decided to use an old sock.  Before going to work I pulled down my basket of unpaired socks.  I found a holey pair and one of them is now over my gear shift knob.  The other half of that pair is in the car waiting for a purpose.   It works for now.  I should stitch it. And, I took the time to look for matches and have put away NINE pairs of socks.  These tasks took time, and almost made me late for work.  Good thing I have the prime parking spot!  😉 I like socks... Two happy things from yesterday that I forgot: I finished listening to The Book of Margery Kempe.   It gave me some insight on life as a woman in the middle ages, though not as much as I'd hoped.   It did mention that she visited Julian of Norwich, and so I am revisiting Julian with the book I started listening to today. With some of the raspberries we picked yesterday Keziah made a sekanjabin.  She also made a lemon-mint sekanjabin.  Here is a random site with a recipe for reference purposes.  I don't know what Keziah used for a recipe, and the link I posted is a different flavor.  Today my happy things include: While out and about this morning Keziah noticed a cloud that looks like it has a hole in it.  I got a picture, but there are lots of wires in it. Here are some happy things from this Friday with flurries: As I write this, I have decided that I need sleep more than I need the money and I am not going to volunteer for a shift tonight. Instead of sleeping this afternoon, I watched this season's last episode of The Rings of Power . Had I slept, I could have gone in for a few hours. I'm happy to stay home instead. All year I have been getting email reminders to get a new pair of work shoes. The company pretty much pays for one pair of shoes if we buy them through Zappos and don't spend too much. I don't remember the allotment amount. Today I finally ordered a pair to replace my current ones. They should be delivered right after Christmas. While I was sitting watching things this afternoon, I heard what sounded like a plow go by. I was surprised to see that it was, in fact, a plow going by and it was snowing.
