Productivity

If you read this blog regularly, you may remember that I sometimes use a Tarot Card app to choose a card for the day.  Normally I look at it and forget about it.  Today the card was the Eight of Wands.  This is a card of momentum and purpose.  Because of the card I made a list and tried to stick to it.  

Perhaps I should pretend to have this card every day.   😆

The only thing I didn't quite complete was the laundry.  I had to wait for the rest of the family's laundry to finish before I could start mine.  Mine is drying now so I can finish that in the morning.  Here are some other happy things from today:

  • On Sundays a group of friends try to meet at a local cafe for breakfast.  The original group of people were writers.  Lately I've been using this time to do some research, mostly on medieval pilgrimages.  Today also included some SCA shenanigan planning.  It was a productive morning.
  • From there I went to the studio to work on the banner and get my pile of skirts into the studio.  I was able to get all of the inner, white parts of the banner painted.  I also gave some thought to those skirts and chose some that I might be able to combine to create a skirt that might fit me.
It might not look much different from yesterday's picture.  I painted a bunch of the white areas.

  • Then I went back home.  I took care of the unpacking that I hadn't done from last weekend's adventure and did other general maintenance things.
  • Keziah gave me my mail. It included a summons for jury duty.  I took the time to fill out the questionnaire and ask for the date to be deferred.  I'll be in Pennsylvania when they want me to appear.
  • In my old bedroom, I started packing up a box to bring to the apartment.  In the process I was able to put a bunch of paperwork into the burn/shred pile.  Yay, downsizing!

Happy New Year!  Welcome to my happy blog.  Here I try to find things from my day that brought a glimmer of joy to me.  I hope by sharing these things, that others may find some happiness as well. Here are today's happy things: Staying up with Gideon and Zed to bring in the new year. Keziah is out of isolation from having covid.  It was so good to see her again this morning! While out on a walk a car drove by with the convertible top down.  It was 33 degrees and ice was formed on puddles.  I think the people must have been happy, enjoying the fresh air and breeze.  It makes me happy to think they were having fun. Otter's Welcome

Some happy things from today: There is a picture I have from a few years ago of my adult children with lilacs in their hair.  This included Bel's generous beard.  Keziah picked some this morning so we could have some in our hair at an SCA event in Massachusetts, Otter's Welcome.  This is an event that is aimed with newcomers in mind.  There is a little bit of most categories to do or observe.  Keziah ran children's point.  I visited with a few people.   Keziah In the middle of the day I started falling asleep.  I ended up napping in the car for a little while.  There was a class I wanted to take, but it was when I was resting. This is also when the weather decided to rain.  That break was needed and I think I enjoyed the rest of the day more because of it. Happy Monday!

Here are some happy things from today: A memory: Back when I was a paraeducator, there was a student who used to say “Happy First Thursday!” on Mondays.  There were four Thursdays in a week.  I'm not sure how much this mind trick worked, but it was fun to hear.  So, happy first Thursday! It was a beautiful day to hang laundry outside to dry.  This prompted me to take a closer look at the lilacs and other flowering plants.  I have been concerned that I hadn't noticed any lily-of-the-valley yet.  Apparently I just wasn't paying attention!  They are up and starting to open. The purple lilacs are almost ready to open. Lily-of-the-valley! One of the problems I've had in my new bedroom is light.  I love that I made the walls light and more cheerful in appearance than my other room.  However, that room had shades, this one did not.  Today I bought the cheapest shade available, to see how I like it.  It is made of paper and it definitely blocks the light.  I bought it knowing t
