GNE Day Three

Happy Saturday SCA things:

  • A few days ago I ordered something that was delivered after I left for the event.  Gideon was driven up with a friend and they were kind enough to bring the box to the event as well.  Because of that, I was able to fly my banner outside our tent.  


  • It is never a good thing when an ambulance shows up at an event.  Today in the heat one of my champions fell on the field and was brought to the hospital.  I am so thankful that they made it back to the event to tell their story.
  • There was a vorpal rabbit archery shoot that I took the time to do.  I shot it twice, the first time I misunderstood the rules and so I counted that as a practice.  The second time I scored a total of 20 points out of the 21 possible.  It was a fun shoot.




  • During morning court a dear friend was called in and asked to join the Order of the Pelican.  This is the highest award for service in the SCA.  She was asked at morning court, took the day to contemplate and receive words of wisdom and advice from people and then at evening court she let their Majesties know that she accepted the honor.  Someone from each peerage then spoke for her and why she deserves to be a Pelican.  Then she is gifted things that show her new status.  Keziah spoke for her as a member of the Laurel.  A friend and I shared the honor of speaking for her as members of the Pelican.  I only messed up once because I started to cry a little.

  • After court the members of my household that were here asked someone to join our household.  It was good and she said yes!

Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Sore Thursday

Here are some happy Thursday things: In an attempt to make a long story short, last week I fell and things didn't seem too sore.  Then I went hiking and backpacking, again, not too bad.  Follow this with work where I needed to get up and down from the floor and now I am having enough aches and pains that I've been taking ibuprofen.  Why is this part of my happy list?  The ibuprofen worked.  It wasn't perfect, but while on it, there was a lot of improvement.  So much so that around 5.5 hours after taking it, I could tell the pills had worn off.  Okay, maybe the story wasn't short.  🙂 I remembered to mend the seam on the gown I'm planning to wear Saturday.   It needs a little more done, but not today. Sleepy Time

Here are some happy things from today. At work, I survived a shift of stowing.  For this, and other reasons, I should practice squatting more often.  Perhaps it is time for me to find an exercise challenge.  I seem to do well with challenges like that. On the way home TF called.  We hadn't talked for a while.  Embarrassingly, I eventually fell asleep during our conversation.  I guess it has been a long week.  We ended our conversation and I took a nap.  My alarm goes off at 3:30 every afternoon.  Soon after that Keziah called.  This helped wake me up enough to go eat.  Food is important.  Keziah thought Zed was going somewhere tonight and I might like to join him. He wasn't, so I went and rested for a few minutes.  Hours later I woke up.  I missed Craft Night and had eighteen minutes to get a DuoLingo lesson done before midnight.  🤣 It was a work, sleep, eat kind of day.  Thankfully I thought to get a pictu...
