Toddler Snuggles!!

Happy things from today:

  • It was my fifth day working ten hour shifts this week and I was assigned to induct packages coming into the building.  The person assigned to unload packages for me was on day six.  They were tired.  They were not fast.  This did not help to keep me awake at work.  It did help me have more energy for the second part of the morning when we prepare packages for delivery.  That was good.  I ended the work day being able to help others tetris their boxes.  Tetris is still one of the best parts of the job for me.
  • After work I had a message that my friend was visiting Keziah's store with her sixteen month old son.  I arrived just in time for him to be drifting off on a nap.  His mom and I talked quietly for a little while.  She handed him to me to hold for a bit.  Listening to and feeling his breathing while he slept almost put me to sleep too!  He woke up while I was holding him, we played with my phone and they left soon after.  I got toddler snuggles and it was wonderful.

  • At home I visited with Keziah and had lunch. Then I tried to be productive by answering emails and practicing DuoLingo, but I fell asleep.  Thankfully I woke up a few hours before midnight and was able to maintain my DuoLingo streak (2028 days!).  Waking when I did gave me the opportunity to visit with Bel and Gideon before they went to sleep.  It was a long but good day.
  • Before midnight, I remembered to text Happy Birthday to my best friend from high school.  Hopefully I didn't wake her.

Started reading:  My Wandering Uterus-tales of traveling while female, edited by K.A. Laity.  This book is an anthology.

Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Sore Thursday

Here are some happy Thursday things: In an attempt to make a long story short, last week I fell and things didn't seem too sore.  Then I went hiking and backpacking, again, not too bad.  Follow this with work where I needed to get up and down from the floor and now I am having enough aches and pains that I've been taking ibuprofen.  Why is this part of my happy list?  The ibuprofen worked.  It wasn't perfect, but while on it, there was a lot of improvement.  So much so that around 5.5 hours after taking it, I could tell the pills had worn off.  Okay, maybe the story wasn't short.  🙂 I remembered to mend the seam on the gown I'm planning to wear Saturday.   It needs a little more done, but not today. Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too.
