Archery

Happy things from today:

  • This morning the new peerage information in the SCA was made public.  Peerages are the highest level awards that a person can get.  Sort of like becoming an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts.  Keziah recently became a peer when she received her Laurel for excelling in arts and sciences.  I have a Pelican for years of service.  There are others.  There were five peerages, this new one will be number six.  They plan to name the peerage Esperaunce (spelling?) which means hope.
This is what the badge of the new peerage will look like.

Keziah and me.

  • I finally made it to the archery field.  At Pennsic War the East Realm and Midrealm compete with each other, earning points and bragging rights until the next war.  On the archery range we are allowed to shoot 30 arrows at each of three different types of targets.  These are the clout (100 yard distance), the Advancing Man (distance to the targets vary as does the scoring), and the Castle Window shoot.  My time was limited.  I was able to shoot some arrows at each of the three types of targets.  I also scored something at each one I tried.  I had fun while contributing to the war efforts of the East Kingdom.

  • Due to tomorrow's rain, the East Kingdom Encampment took down the sheet walls and some of the tents today.  I was able to help out with that.  It is always good to help.
  • Most of the rest of my day I spent visiting and relaxing around camp.  The Jiffy Pop I made tonight on the fire turned out a lot better than the one I made a few nights ago over coals.  The heat of the flames helped it pop much easier.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
