Bye, Bel

Bel, my youngest, left to go home to Maryland this afternoon.  I miss them already.

Here are some happy things from today:

  • Most of the day I was able to hang out with Bel.  We talked while they packed their things up.  We went to lunch together.  We visited Keziah's store so they could say goodbye to some of the friends they made.  We talked about books, reading, and history.  It has been a lovely visit and I know they will be back to visit again soon.
Their shirt says, "I'll love you til you love yourself."

  • When we had lunch, there was someone else at the restaurant that recognized us from DIY Craft & Thrift.  They had a necklace that had become tangled and asked if we could help them.  Between Bel & I we were able to get it back to a necklace instead of a knot.  It turns out that Bel shares my enjoyment in taking out knots.
  • After Bel left, Zed and I talked about creating a family calendar to better coordinate all the ever changing schedules in the household.  This became a fascinating conversation about how we could possibly create a digital calendar that would sync everyone's schedule into one that would hang on the wall to see.  It turns out that such a device does exist, but it is above our budget for a calendar.
  • I was able to catch the last bit of color in the sky before darkness fell.

Continued listening to: The Farthest Shore, by Ursula K. Le Guin.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
