Hail, Hail!

Some happy things from today:

  • This morning I got flustered.  A change happened that I wasn't expecting and I didn't handle it as well as I could have.  Thankfully I was able to pull it together after getting a hug from Keziah.  She was part of the Baronial Youth Tournament staff.  It is always uplifting to see her pursue her passions.
  • It was fun to watch the youth fighters.  For the Baronial Youth Tournament, Baronial heads either have a champion at War, or are able to sponsor a youth from somewhere.  There are three divisions, based on age and ability.  There were two youths that Keziah and I got to sponsor.  Both of them did well.  The fighting was cut short due to inclement weather.  Rain doesn't usually stop the fighters, but coupled with thunder, it does.

  • Back at the encampment the rain continued.  There was also hail for a little while.  The ground is saturated and there is a little stream going through the encampment and into the common tent.  There are puddles inside our personal tent.  Mistakes were made when we put the tent up that didn't get corrected.  The result is puddles.  Most of our things are either in plastic bins or weren't on the floor.  I'm thankful for that.  I've learned a bit about setting up a pavilion and I am thankful for that as well.

  • Tonight was East Kingdom court.  As the Royals started to enter the large pavilion, the winds rose and the rain came down hard.  Some tents nearby started to collapse and a bunch of people ran to help.  I didn't notice it until they were fixing it.  At court, many people were given accolades and it was good to be there.  The rain stopped (for a while).  Zed brought dinner to Keziah and I.  There was a double rainbow.  On the way back to camp, Keziah and I sang together.  It was nice to see people helping others, seeing the deserved accolades, and singing with Keziah.

Sunset

  • At camp, there was a fire going.  This was a very pleasant surprise considering how full of water the fire pit was earlier in the day.  My feet got dry, at least for a little while.  As the embers started to fade I remembered that we had some Jiffy Pop.  It wasn't very jiffy, but we got some of the corn to pop and stayed up munching on pop corn until the fire was gone.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
