Cleaning Day

Happy Sunday things:

  • Zed made breakfast for the family this morning.  It was very nice of him to do that.  It was delicious!
  • Keziah and I went to the cafe to have a second breakfast and visit with some friends.  I'm hoping to start some sketching lessons in the next week or two with one of those friends.
  • At home I decided it was time to do something about the kitchen.  I moved things around, swept, and mopped.  The dishes were still in boxes, some of them are clean and will make it to the cabinet when they are dry.  I had an area that had become a catch all that I cleaned up and set the microwave onto it.  I didn't spend any time on the refrigerator, but the stove is clean.  We thought the burners weren't working, it seems that the starter is what is broken.  They all light with a lighter.

  • The Inktober prompt I chose to do today was number eight.  I wasn't able to catch up much, but I didn't fall further behind.  My original plan was to do this in pencil before doing it in ink.  It will remain only in pencil at this time.

Happy New Year!  Welcome to my happy blog.  Here I try to find things from my day that brought a glimmer of joy to me.  I hope by sharing these things, that others may find some happiness as well. Here are today's happy things: Staying up with Gideon and Zed to bring in the new year. Keziah is out of isolation from having covid.  It was so good to see her again this morning! While out on a walk a car drove by with the convertible top down.  It was 33 degrees and ice was formed on puddles.  I think the people must have been happy, enjoying the fresh air and breeze.  It makes me happy to think they were having fun. My walk was almost three and a half mile's long today.  It seems like it has been quite a while since I walked that distance for me and not work.  I'm hoping this first walk of the year will inspire me to get out there again and explore.  I saw bluebirds, ducks, squirrels, and maybe juncos?  I couldn’t get close enough to make a positive identification.  There was

Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too. The Coot Trail was wider and probably could be used by vehicles that can handle steep hills with rocks and gravel when maintaining the buildings on the top.

North Country

Happy things from today: This morning, Nanni caught a mouse.  She was rewarded greatly.  No pictures, you're welcome.  😁 My friend and I headed for the mountains a little after 11:30 this morning.  We had a little miscommunication when it came to the plans which meant we stopped for lunch and to pick up a few things on the way.  Our plan is to go to two fire towers that are in the northern part of New Hampshire.  Along with that, we hope to explore and have fun along the way. On the way, we caught site of a another fire tower.  It is one that I visited back in 2021.  I hadn't realized it was along the way.  The tower itself was closed for renovations.  We had a nice walk up Mount Prospect.  We could have driven, but it was a good, short (about a mile) hike up the Heritage Trail. Tonight we are staying at a campground along Lake Francis.  It is a large lake and the Connecticut River feeds it and leaves it.  The river is, of course, smaller than it is in Connecticut.  There is a
