Long Monday

Ice (hail or sleet or ...) woke me in the middle of the night bouncing off the window air conditioner.  Soon after I also heard a roll of thunder.  Somehow, I let those sounds lull me back to sleep.  Here are some other happy things from today:

  • This morning I had an appointment for my ultrasound.  Every year I have an ultrasound and appointments to monitor my thyroid because I have Hashimoto's Disease.  Today I had two ultrasounds.  First, a student did everything, then a licensed tech came in, and did it all again.  I also had a thyroid blood test. So I have been poked and prodded!  I'm just happy that it is done.
  • Keziah and I met at the SCA storage unit to put away the things we had borrowed to use at the last event.  We managed to leave one bin at home.  I'll be back in a few weeks to pick up other things.  It has been a busy time.  Someone who works there brings their dog and plays with them in the long hallways.  They are fun to watch.
  • Part of the day I spent at the studio.  It seems like it has been quite a long time since I've been there for any length of time.  Being able to work at a table was really nice and I was able to do three of the Inktober prompts.  I don't think to use the table at Keziah’s house and I don't have one available at the apartment.  That is a goal.  I also did a little bit of embroidery and stitching of a favor before I had to leave.  I found a pile of my favors when I was organizing and I just need to finish them.  I hope to give a bunch out at the next Stonemarche event.

  • When I should have been getting ready to go to bed, I was helping someone move a wooden tool box.  They thought the box was much heavier than it was.  I'm glad I could help.  It was good for me to step out of my comfort zone to help them and I met their grandmother.  This was just ten minutes from home, so I am not really going to bed later than I would have otherwise.  I just always hope to go to bed earlier.  😁

Happy New Year!  Welcome to my happy blog.  Here I try to find things from my day that brought a glimmer of joy to me.  I hope by sharing these things, that others may find some happiness as well. Here are today's happy things: Staying up with Gideon and Zed to bring in the new year. Keziah is out of isolation from having covid.  It was so good to see her again this morning! While out on a walk a car drove by with the convertible top down.  It was 33 degrees and ice was formed on puddles.  I think the people must have been happy, enjoying the fresh air and breeze.  It makes me happy to think they were having fun. My walk was almost three and a half mile's long today.  It seems like it has been quite a while since I walked that distance for me and not work.  I'm hoping this first walk of the year will inspire me to get out there again and explore.  I saw bluebirds, ducks, squirrels, and maybe juncos?  I couldn’t get close enough to make a positive identification.  There was

Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too. The Coot Trail was wider and probably could be used by vehicles that can handle steep hills with rocks and gravel when maintaining the buildings on the top.

North Country

Happy things from today: This morning, Nanni caught a mouse.  She was rewarded greatly.  No pictures, you're welcome.  😁 My friend and I headed for the mountains a little after 11:30 this morning.  We had a little miscommunication when it came to the plans which meant we stopped for lunch and to pick up a few things on the way.  Our plan is to go to two fire towers that are in the northern part of New Hampshire.  Along with that, we hope to explore and have fun along the way. On the way, we caught site of a another fire tower.  It is one that I visited back in 2021.  I hadn't realized it was along the way.  The tower itself was closed for renovations.  We had a nice walk up Mount Prospect.  We could have driven, but it was a good, short (about a mile) hike up the Heritage Trail. Tonight we are staying at a campground along Lake Francis.  It is a large lake and the Connecticut River feeds it and leaves it.  The river is, of course, smaller than it is in Connecticut.  There is a
