TW: Bug

Here are some happy bits from today:

  • For unknown reasons it has been busier than anticipated at work.  This has meant that very little training has happened this week on my road to being a real Learning Ambassador.  So far, I've taken the required computer courses and in-person class, but nothing new that is hands-on.  Today I had another online course.  I also added my name to other lists to learn new things.  Yay, more learning!
  • While taking care of some things in the yard today a rather large bug scared me.  I dropped what I was holding.  Closer inspection revealed a rather large praying mantis.  Hopefully it found its way out of the driveway after recovering from me dropping it.

  • The not-so-happy news is that Gideon didn't get a part in the school play.  The good thing is that he took the information better than he would have a year ago.  
  • Gideon doesn't like the way his English Language Arts class will read a little of a book and then stop to discuss it. For some reason this reminded me of Mystery Science Theater 3000.  Gideon and I had a few laughs watching a little bit of it after school.
  • The Inktober prompt today is Discover.

Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Socks

Happy Wednesday things: Yesterday, I forgot to write that I am the Safety Committee Member of the Month.  This means I have the number one parking spot at work until the end of June. On Monday I started to consider the reality that my car gets really hot in the sun.  This prompted me to consider ways of covering the gear shift knob.  Rather than spending money, I decided to use an old sock.  Before going to work I pulled down my basket of unpaired socks.  I found a holey pair and one of them is now over my gear shift knob.  The other half of that pair is in the car waiting for a purpose.   It works for now.  I should stitch it. And, I took the time to look for matches and have put away NINE pairs of socks.  These tasks took time, and almost made me late for work.  Good thing I have the prime parking spot!  😉 I like socks... Happy things from today: On Monday we went to Ikea.  The van has served as the storage unit for our purchases until this morning.  After emptying the van we went to DIY Craft and Thrift for some paints.  Having a daughter who owns a crafting thrift store has benefits.  Today that benefit was taking home a lot of paint (before the store officially opened) and I'll be able to return what isn't used so she can sell it.   While at the store, one of the artists was in the building with their dog, Jazzy.  Jazzy was extremely happy to see me.  She followed us around the store and kept politely asking me for pets.   Photo courtesy Keziah Keziah and I ran some errands and then we started painting.  The stairway is now the only area that still needs another coat of white.  I didn't look at the clock much, but it was after eight in the evening when I stopped for the night.  I think the painting is roughly ⅔ of the way done.  Kez...
