Cats

 Here are some happy things from today:

  • Keziah played with the cats this morning, I took pictures.

  • While scrolling on Facebook Marketplace this morning looking for hiking things I spotted a women's puffy jacket.  It appeared to be the right size, $30, and definitely made for backpacking.  Unfortunately it was located about an hour away.  Last week I saw a similar item and chickened out.  The thought of meeting with a stranger to do something like this bothers me.  Then I looked again and saw that I knew the person selling it.  She is a teacher who used to work in the school where I was a paraeducator.  I messaged her and made the trip.  She had some other items that she was planning to donate that she offered as well.  I now have a few things that I can wear backpacking.



  • Yesterday I wrote about Keziah's phone being broken.  Her replacement was here early this afternoon.  Things have been a little stressful lately, so getting the phone quickly was nice.  However, when she took the cover off her old phone to prepare it to be shipped back, she found that the phone wasn't broken, the case was.  I couldn't help myself, I laughed and laughed.  One could say that I was hysterical.  It just hit me as a stress release.  She returned the replacement. 
  • More favors came in the mail for me!


  • I went for a short walk around sunset.  It is a very blustery day.  Fall leaves are blowing everywhere.  At one point they blew in a tiny whirlwind around me.  It was like the Disney movie, PoPocahontas.  The sky was mottled with dark clouds and I felt the occasional sprinkle.  It was a lovely time of day to be outside.

Final Post for 2024

--Here are some happy things from this last day of the year: It was a working day for me.  It was busy and I left early.  I had three and a half hours of PTO and I decided to use them.  There was internal guilt, but everyone I told that I had PTO to use, agreed that I needed to use my time. Since I was home a little early, I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and helped finish up the store reset.  The store looks great and somehow seems to be more spacious.   After a nap, I went to the party Keziah and Zed were having.  The theme has to do with toasting in the New Year with jam.  Jam-bor-brie is what they called it this year.  I got to spend time with friends visiting and playing games.  I learned two new games; The Isle of Cats and Dixit.  We also played Carcassonne.   It was a lot of fun.  I need to play games more often. Sore Thursday

Here are some happy Thursday things: In an attempt to make a long story short, last week I fell and things didn't seem too sore.  Then I went hiking and backpacking, again, not too bad.  Follow this with work where I needed to get up and down from the floor and now I am having enough aches and pains that I've been taking ibuprofen.  Why is this part of my happy list?  The ibuprofen worked.  It wasn't perfect, but while on it, there was a lot of improvement.  So much so that around 5.5 hours after taking it, I could tell the pills had worn off.  Okay, maybe the story wasn't short.  🙂 I remembered to mend the seam on the gown I'm planning to wear Saturday.   It needs a little more done, but not today. Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too.
