Sunrise

Some Happy things from this Monday:

  • When I woke up before the sunrise I decided that I wanted to see it.  There was also a layer of frost, so I chose to look at it every few minutes through the window.  It was worth it.





  • This morning I spent some time researching bear safe containers for when I hike.  I haven't made a decision, but I have narrowed down my options.  Bel is hopefully going to be here later this month and I look forward to going over the pros and cons with them.
  • My other research project today ended up being space heaters.  I've ordered a new one that should be here Saturday.  Tomorrow and Wednesday the weather should be warm again, so I decided I can wait for the delivery.  I also found the two little space heaters I got on clearance last spring.  They are only good for small spaces, but help a lot.  Yay, warmth!
  • After lunch I took a nice walk around the neighborhood.  I went down the trail on a dead-end road nearby.  The leaves are mostly fallen.  It is still the beauty in this particular route.

Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too. The Coot Trail was wider and probably could be used by vehicles that can handle steep hills with rocks and gravel when maintaining the buildings on the top.

Happy 2024-Ice

Happy New Year!  Welcome to my happy blog.  Here I try to find things from my day that brought a glimmer of joy to me.  I hope by sharing these things, that others may find some happiness as well. Here are today's happy things: Staying up with Gideon and Zed to bring in the new year. Keziah is out of isolation from having covid.  It was so good to see her again this morning! While out on a walk a car drove by with the convertible top down.  It was 33 degrees and ice was formed on puddles.  I think the people must have been happy, enjoying the fresh air and breeze.  It makes me happy to think they were having fun. My walk was almost three and a half mile's long today.  It seems like it has been quite a while since I walked that distance for me and not work.  I'm hoping this first walk of the year will inspire me to get out there again and explore.  I saw bluebirds, ducks, squirrels, and maybe juncos?  I couldn’t get close enough to make a positive identification.  There was

Otter's Welcome

Some happy things from today: There is a picture I have from a few years ago of my adult children with lilacs in their hair.  This included Bel's generous beard.  Keziah picked some this morning so we could have some in our hair at an SCA event in Massachusetts, Otter's Welcome.  This is an event that is aimed with newcomers in mind.  There is a little bit of most categories to do or observe.  Keziah ran children's point.  I visited with a few people.   Keziah In the middle of the day I started falling asleep.  I ended up napping in the car for a little while.  There was a class I wanted to take, but it was when I was resting. This is also when the weather decided to rain.  That break was needed and I think I enjoyed the rest of the day more because of it.
