Christmas Day

Merry Christmas!  Happy Hanukkah! Happy Whatever-you-do-on-this-day Day!

Here are some happy highlights from my day:

  • The rest of the family got up much later than I did.  Eventually everyone had eaten and presents were exchanged.  All the gifts were wonderful, however, Gideon won Christmas this year.  He created a scavenger hunt for Keziah that included us all.  Keziah got the first clue and each of us had a piece of the map and key.  "Gnomes" had hidden clues around the place and we had to find them.  Each clue had a gnome that Gideon had made, a gift for someone, and another clue.  Gideon did such a good job.  He used hints, YouTube, and the app What3Words to help lead us to the next clue.  We had a blast!

old stores that have gone out of business. 

My mom used to work for both Zayre and Ames.

  • During the day some people came by to visit. A friend of Keziah's brought their Cribbage board so the two of us could play. They had heard that I liked the game and knew I missed the party last weekend. We played two games and I won both of them. I had so much fun and they were great to play with.

  • Bel and a friend were busy all afternoon creating our dinner. It was a feast. There was a huge chunk of beef, potato soup, stuffed acorn squash, cranberry sauce and more. All of it was freshly made. They did wonderful work. Everything was so good. Some of Zed's family came by and enjoyed it too.




  • There was even time to watch some Christmas movies today. I admit I did fall asleep for a little bit during one of them.

Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too. Otter's Welcome

Some happy things from today: There is a picture I have from a few years ago of my adult children with lilacs in their hair.  This included Bel's generous beard.  Keziah picked some this morning so we could have some in our hair at an SCA event in Massachusetts, Otter's Welcome.  This is an event that is aimed with newcomers in mind.  There is a little bit of most categories to do or observe.  Keziah ran children's point.  I visited with a few people.   Keziah In the middle of the day I started falling asleep.  I ended up napping in the car for a little while.  There was a class I wanted to take, but it was when I was resting. This is also when the weather decided to rain.  That break was needed and I think I enjoyed the rest of the day more because of it. Happy Friday

There is one more night for me to work this week.  I have Sunday off and I'm back to work Monday thru Thursday.  My happy things for today: A little while after I got home from work, I remembered that I needed to do laundry.   Yay clean clothes to wear to work tonight! There was lost & found at the event last weekend.  I brought it to the studio this afternoon so that it can be returned to its owner.  I also got to see a few friends.   I also stopped by Keziah’s store and was able to see the family and some friends.  I don't usually spend so much time out and about on working days.  I'm glad I got to see people.  I'm especially glad that I was able to sit down with the family and get closer to firming out plans for this weekend and vacation.  Bel & Keziah ☮ Currently listening to: Dune Messiah , by Frank Herbert.
