Nostalgia

Happy first day of December.   Here are some things from today that made me happy:

  • When I finally got up and got going this morning, I made a list and stuck to it.  I went through a box and emptied it.  Some of it went to the trash and some just got moved around/put away.  There was a pile of Avon jewelry that I kept.  Everything was still in the boxes.  This is a problem I have, keeping boxes.  The jewelry is now put away and the boxes are in the recycle bin.  Yay, downsizing!

  • I also did some cleaning in my room, laundry, and dishes.  In my room I have a thing my mom made when I was a kid. It hangs and has little pockets on it. I'm sure I thought the fabric was really groovy.  Apparently I still do since I want to keep it.  I've been trying to figure out what to use it for and realized last week that my wallet fits into one of the pockets quite nicely.  I had some pins on it too and added some more from the jewelry I unpacked.

  • One of the things I found was a printed paper with directions from New Hampshire to Missouri.  I don't remember what year it was, possibly 2000.  We didn't have a GPS.  I feel like if mobile GPSs existed then, they were expensive.  Anyhow, it brought back memories of trying to read directions or a map while driving.  Talk about a distraction!  The GPS is a piece of technology that I am very happy exists.  I used to use a washable marker to write directions on the top of the windshield in the RV.  Once a section of the drive was done, I wiped it off.

  • After feeling at least a little bit accomplished I went for a walk.  It was a cold, sunny day.  A beautiful day for walking.  I made a point of walking up some hills.

  • My last task for the day was to go to the studio and finish patching a pair of jeans.  There were two bins of fabric to bring there from the apartment.  Both bins made it into the car, only one made it into the studio.  I tripped and fell while carrying the first bin in (not a happy thing) and decided that was my limit for today.  I patched my jeans and went home to ice my sore spots.  I'm fine.  I think the patches look pretty good.

Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.
