Penultimate Day in December

The year is almost over. ( 😮 )  Here are some happy things for today:

  • There was more progress made at DIY Craft & Thrift. I wasn't there as long as I was hoping to be. It is really great to see things coming together.

  • After working at DIY for almost an hour I left briefly because the time was up on my paid parking. I went to a grocery store that I know takes plastic bags and dropped off some of what I have in the car. I don't like being the person that fills up a recycle bin in a store. I bought some cereal and a new canvas shopping bag.
  • Zed, a friend, and I went to the State Surplus Distribution place in Concord. Keziah wanted some filing cabinets. They only had one and we picked that up. I also got some rusty tools (five for one dollar) and a kitchen knife. They have many different knives there.

The kitchen knife is from The Pampered Chef.
I'm hopeful that it will last long.

  • By the time we were done there it was too close to my needing to go to bed so I left and did shopping instead.  I was able to pick up almost everything on Keziah and Zed's shopping list as well as my own.  I didn't put as much time in at DIY as I might have wanted, but I think I helped by reducing their time getting some groceries.
  • Sunset!!

Happy Wednesday things: Yesterday, I forgot to write that I am the Safety Committee Member of the Month.  This means I have the number one parking spot at work until the end of June. On Monday I started to consider the reality that my car gets really hot in the sun.  This prompted me to consider ways of covering the gear shift knob.  Rather than spending money, I decided to use an old sock.  Before going to work I pulled down my basket of unpaired socks.  I found a holey pair and one of them is now over my gear shift knob.  The other half of that pair is in the car waiting for a purpose.   It works for now.  I should stitch it. And, I took the time to look for matches and have put away NINE pairs of socks.  These tasks took time, and almost made me late for work.  Good thing I have the prime parking spot!  😉 I like socks... Here are some happy things from this Friday with flurries: As I write this, I have decided that I need sleep more than I need the money and I am not going to volunteer for a shift tonight. Instead of sleeping this afternoon, I watched this season's last episode of The Rings of Power . Had I slept, I could have gone in for a few hours. I'm happy to stay home instead. All year I have been getting email reminders to get a new pair of work shoes. The company pretty much pays for one pair of shoes if we buy them through Zappos and don't spend too much. I don't remember the allotment amount. Today I finally ordered a pair to replace my current ones. They should be delivered right after Christmas. While I was sitting watching things this afternoon, I heard what sounded like a plow go by. I was surprised to see that it was, in fact, a plow going by and it was snowing. Productivity

If you read this blog regularly, you may remember that I sometimes use a Tarot Card app to choose a card for the day.  Normally I look at it and forget about it.  Today the card was the Eight of Wands.  This is a card of momentum and purpose.  Because of the card I made a list and tried to stick to it.   Perhaps I should pretend to have this card every day.   ðŸ˜† The only thing I didn't quite complete was the laundry.  I had to wait for the rest of the family's laundry to finish before I could start mine.  Mine is drying now so I can finish that in the morning.  Here are some other happy things from today: On Sundays a group of friends try to meet at a local cafe for breakfast.  The original group of people were writers.  Lately I've been using this time to do some research, mostly on medieval pilgrimages.  Today also included some SCA shenanigan planning.  It was a productive morning.
