2024 Happy Blog Challenge Continues

 In the middle of the woods there is no internet.  I was able to write my thoughts from the day, alas, they didn't save.  So this is a quick, hey, I'm alive post.  I'll write about yesterday later.

Earlier this afternoon I slipped and fell outside in the rain.  I'm doing my best to not let it get me down.  Here are some happy things for this wet Thursday!! At work I completed my training to become a Learning Ambassador.  I was given a new vest with blue trim instead of green.  Green was for the Safety Committee.   Since I am still part of the Safety Committee I get to put words on the back of my vest to show that.  I chose Safety Pelican. The tunic I have been working on is completed.  All I did was the hand stitching of the blue trim onto the gray.  Someone else did the machine sewing to construct the tunic. Gideon's school had an open house.  We got to see his classrooms and meet some of the teachers.  Someone from work has a child in Gideon's class.  I wasn't expecting that. ☮ Currently listening to: The Silmarillion , by J. For the first time in a really long time, I came home from work without sore feet.  I was sitting most of the day.  Here are some other happy things from today: At work I learned a bunch about how to be a Learning Ambassador.  I finished all but one lesson.  I'm hoping I'll be able to do that tomorrow.  Yay! It isn't even October yet and I have added my big sleeping bag to my bed as a blanket.  Which means I have a sheet, quilt, polar fleece blanket and a sleeping bag to keep me warm.  I slept well under all that and stayed warm. After work the company had pizza and karaoke.  Some of the employees can sing!  I did not sing karaoke.  I did remember that it is something that I have on my bucket list.  Maybe next time.  At home I finished one of the sleeves on the SCA garb I am trying to finish.  I only have one sleeve left to do.  It shouldn't take long, but that is a task for future me. Happy Tuesday things: After working part of my night I went home to get ready to go to court.  I was summoned for the possibility of jury duty.  131 people showed up and they were looking for 14 jurors.  Only 100 people fit in the room with the judge and I was not part of that first hundred people.  I never had to go to that room and I was not chosen.  I am okay with that.   When I got home, I had a nice visit with Zed.  He and Keziah were away last weekend and he showed me some pictures of where they were in Vermont.  It sounds like they had a good time.  They were productive too.  They arranged a meeting with someone who has a shop similar to DIY Craft & Thrift.   The studio was my next stop for the day.  I still have a tunic for SCA wear that I am trying to finish for the son of Their Highnesses.  The arms were originally measured wrong and needed to be shortened.  I used scissors and the sewing machi...

Here are some happy things from today: It was an early morning for me so I could help Gideon get ready for school on time.  From there I went to the dentist for a filling.  This is not something that I want to do, but something I know I should do.  I'm happy it is behind me. Since it wasn't too far away, I went to Sierra and REI, two different stores that carry hiking supplies.  I'm hoping to take a short backpacking trip Friday into Saturday with my friend Stephanie.  One thing that I hadn't purchased yet was some kind of bear bag to hang.  Between the two stores I got some things that should do the job.  Then, who did I see at the store?  Stephanie.  Sometimes the timing just works.   I had to go home so I could grab some things and go to work.  They were looking for someone to come in for 1.5 hours and I decided to do it.  It is really weird to be at work, at that <i(time of day, and have energy.   At home ...

Happy Autumn! Last night I slept on the couch and it didn't go too bad.  I expected to hurt more this morning.  Since I am still the parental figure for Gideon while his parents are away, I'm sleeping on the couch tonight, too.  I'll need to be up in the morning to get him to school and me to the dentist. Gideon, his friend, and I went to a cafe this morning where we met up with my friend (his friend's aunt).  The kids got to spend more time together.  I was able to do a little bit of hiking research.  I've decided I need to do an overnight somewhere before winter hits.   There was archery today.  I'm not shooting as well as I'd like.  However, I shot longer today than I have been and the very last six arrows were pretty good.  I forgot to take a picture of my scores.  The red, white, and blue Arrows are mine. Some happy things from today:. Last Christmas I gave Zed a toilet seat and a new bidet attachment.  I finally installed them this morning.  It shouldn't have taken so long.  Now that I live in the apartment, I don't use that bathroom anymore and I forgot.  The installment ended up being his birthday present.  I'm happy it is done. Gideon and I went to see Beetlejuice Beetlejuice with some friends this afternoon.  It was pretty good.  My opinion is that most of the funny parts were at the end, less were interspersed in the movie. Maybe I'm old though and just didn't get some of the jokes. After the movie I brought Gideon and his friend back to the house. My friend brought dinner over. It was nice to get to sit and visit for a while. Gideon's parents are away, his friend is staying overnight, and I'm sleeping on the couch.
