Happy things from today: This is an event that I came to for a couple reasons.  One of those reasons is to help my friend by retaining (serving) for Their Highnesses.  Much of the day was spent being near Their Highnesses just in case they needed something.  It was a low key event and they didn't need a lot.  Hanging out with purpose is kind of what happened.  It was nice. Another reason was that there was a Baronial Investiture today.  That is when the former Baronage steps down, and the new step up.  Since Keziah and I will be stepping down soon-ish, I wanted to get some ideas.  I'm hoping for some shtick, and I got some ideas.  Yay! The last reason is a reason to go to any local-ish SCA event, the friendships.  It was a good day to talk with people, see people get awards, and just experience being near people I care about. ☮ Currently listening to: Tehanu , by Ursula K. Travel Day

Happy things from today: The road trip for today was just around two hours.  We stopped about halfway for lunch at a little place called Auntie T's Roadside Truck Grille.  There was more on the menu than I expected from such a small place.  They cooked the bacon in the deep fryer, so it was crisp and delicious.    The event site seems nice.  It isn't a large site.   I did my best to help my friend set up her tent.  I'm very grateful that she is letting me stay in it with her. We are part of the meal plan.  The meal plan starts tomorrow so we went out to an Indian restaurant in town.  I haven't had Indian food for a while.  It was really good.  I'm a very picky eater and there were quite a few things I would have had.  The town is a cute New England town, Greenfield, MA.  They have some lovely murals and have painted the parking meters.  Charming. ☮ Currently listening to: Tehanu , by Ursula K. Happy Weekend Beginnings

Image
Thursday's happy things: Since money, or lack thereof, has been on my mind lately, I am making an effort to work all the hours I'm scheduled and not leave early from work. I'm also hoping to occasionally pick up another shift.  I feel like I should add that I'm doing okay with my day to day finances, but if I'm going to take time off from work next year for other things, I need to save more now.  And thus ends my completed work week.  I have plans this weekend, so I doubt I'll get to do any extra work.   There was a yellow jacket busily pollinating the flowers on the snowberry plant.   The yellow jacket is on the snowberry.   plant. The purple flowers above it are a nightshade. This weekend I will be at an SCA event and I want to bring all the hand sewing I have to do.  Somehow, I don't have a bag or basket big enough to hold the sewing that isn't really modern looking.  So I went to DIY Craft & Thrift and got myself a used bag.  Keziah had waited to

Stamp Posters

Happy Wednesday things: It was a weird night at work.  One of the conveyors broke down so we had to improvise for a little while.  Thankfully it was fixed and we were able to resume and still get everything out on time.  I think my attitude about work is improving and I'm happy about that. In trying to move forward with my downsizing efforts I took a few minutes to go through some more papers. I've added to my shred pile and recycle bin.  Since tomorrow is trash day I even took everything out of the house and put it into the bins.  There is one thing that I found that I'm not sure what to do with.  I have an envelope full of Post Office stamp posters from the late 1960's to early 1970's.  I'd rather they went to someone that wants them but I don't know how to find that person.  There is a place in my little mother-in-law apartment that I have been avoiding-the refrigerator.  When the previous person left it wasn't cleaned and still has some food stuff in

Happy Tuesday

Happy things from today: Work went well.  I was moved around a few times which kept things fresh.  It made for a good way to start the week. While briefly outside at work I noticed the quarter moon with what I think was Venus near it.  Seeing that was a bright spot in my night.  At home, I seem to keep drifting off to sleep whenever I stop doing anything.  That is, until now, when I am hoping to sleep soon.  Which should mean that I don't make stupid-falling-asleep-on-the-keyboard mistakes.  🤣 I'm choosing to laugh at this now instead of letting it frustrate me.   The view outside my window. ☮ Started listening to: Tehanu , by Ursula K. Zero Day

Today was definitely a down day.  Here are some happy parts: My phone case has been falling apart.  I bought milk last week at Market Basket so I could use the orange sticker they put on the gallons to hold the button onto my phone case.  It worked great!  I also ordered a replacement case last week that was delivered while I was away.  I decided to go pretty for a change and got one with an agate stone print. Old case with the sticker. New case. Keziah and I saw each other for long enough today that we were able to have a conversation.  Our busy lives and different schedules don't always allow for that.  Some days we just send messages.  Some days we just get the business that needs to be handled talked about.  Today was business and some general-- how have you been doing --chit-chat.  ☮ Thank you for being part of my happy things. Stay safe.

Long Day Ending the Weekend

I fell asleep often writing this.  Here are some happy things from today: My friend Stephanie and I got things mostly packed up in camp and headed for the Milan Hill Fire Tower.  It is located within the campground we were at so it wasn't really hard to find.  There is a picnic pavilion and yard that make this a neat outside party destination.  There were more spectacular mountain views.  We saw the hills we drove through to get there.  Somehow I forgot to take the selfie on top of the Fire Tower.  Instead of climbing back up, I took a picture of me at the bottom. We had our tents set up in this lean-to.  The trail up. That was it. Pretty much all of it. Geo marker! Selfie. After, we finished packing and we headed home.  In Franconia Notch we pulled over for a pit stop and saw the Basin.  The Basin brings back memories for me of when I was very young.  The memories are faded enough that they could have happened at some other flowing river through the White Mountains, but I think it

Wow, Long and PICTURES

What a wonderful day!  Here are some happy highlights and a bunch of pictures. My friend Stephanie (I got her permission to use her name) and I started out later than planned but Magalloway Mountain wasn't too long of a drive from where we camped.  After driving over miles of dirt roads we ended up at the trailhead.  We chose to go up the Bobcat Trail and down the Coot Trail.  The Bobcat Trail is a narrow trail that doubled as a small brook in places. 😉  When we got to the top of the mountain there was a trail to an overlook and we went there first.  The overlook was over a cliff, but it was beautiful and we could see so far.  The tower view was also spectacular and gave us a 360 degree view.  I don't know where the borders are, but from where we stood in New Hampshire we could see Canada and Maine, probably Vermont, too. The Coot Trail was wider and probably could be used by vehicles that can handle steep hills with rocks and gravel when maintaining the buildings on the top.
